Its a sad state of affairs when you can't park a car up safely.

Over time car locks wear and become easier to open particularly by strangers hanging about carrying bunches of keys.

I can't see this car being earmarked to be stolen by order so this could well be nicked by a local to play about in.

It may be wise to drive round the local area where the lowlifes live or hangout you may just be lucky.

Hope you are.

Just thought I'd say, Carlton turned up safe and sound. New locks and ignition barrel ordered  :)

Yes, deterrant. I have a big yellow half disc steering wheel lock. Obviously its no deterrant to a determined thief but all I can do is keep the joy riders at bay by making them realise my old car is harder to steal than someone elses old car.

I am also a bit thoughtful about where I park it. Also, luckily, the council replaced and moved the street lamps - the new one is right outside the house. I also have a PIR door/porch light which is over sensitive and turns on whenever someone walking along the pavement gets anywhere near to passing the car.

My next plan is a simple immobiliser, just a switch. As has been said before on here something that isolates the fuel pump so they only get a little way then have to give up. Mind you I prefer total deterrant so I do not have to replace locks and/or windows. Maybe that is why my paintwork is er (still) not great !.
1993 2.0 CD(X)i Auto Estate (Rioja Red very little tin worm & reasonable paint).
RIP - 1992 2.0 CDXi Manual Estate (Spectral Blue with far too much tin worm, now only parts).

Old age means wondering: Do I really have to struggle to become an expert in something I might never need to do again.

its a shame we all have to think like that nowadays, but prevention is better than cure as they say! keep the scumbags out!
