Carlton CDX 2.0 litre saloon
« on: September 14, 2013, 08:37:27 PM »
NOT MINE!!

I have been asked if i would offer this for sale

this is all i know at the moment

2.0 Carlton CDXi satin or maybe Bordeaux red
low mileage
arches it still has and they are the originals!!
short test and tax requires front struts and wishbones etc
four alloys and a steel spare one of the alloys needs a tyre
new battery
ALL electrics work (windows heated seats etc)
price £350 but will negotiate for a club member

imho this car is well worth the money if it is as good as it sounds i will try and get over to look and take photos as soon as possible!!
what would life be like if we all drove fwd cars? feckin boring that's what rear drive or bust

What transmission? ???
What is the mileage? ???
When is it taxed until? ???
When is it MOT'd until? ???
No disrespect but there is a long list of how and whats before anyone can realistically consider buying the car or committing time, cost and energy travelling to view. Photos would be essential for this option to go any further.
Its good of you Carlton_mad to give up your time to visit and take photos because without these and answers to the above questions someone could so easily be buying a pig in the poke  :-\- always wanted to say that, now I have. ;D

I would need to know what I'm getting into Jimmy, so my previous comments still hold. Would you take my word on the value of a car?

So is anyone interested enough to warrant Carlton_Mad going and having a look ?. He knows his stuff and I expect he will have an accurate report once he has seen it. There is always a risk but once he has seen it I doubt if he will miss anything the rest of us would spot !.

Jimmy you might take carlton-mad's word for the state of the car but at the moment he hasn't seen it so he wouldn't know whats right or wrong with the car. Until he has, if he does, inspect the car then we won't be any wiser will we.
My previous comments still hold and if you and PeterC are correct in your assumption of carlton-mad's capability then he will recognise that my comments are valid.

As to the value of the car or indeed anything that perception differs from one individual to another. Personally I don't just look at what the price is but also look at what its going to cost to bring it to the standard required. Include all the costs for making the car roadworthy and up to a good standard could so easily run in to £thousands and would it be worth it at the end of it all. Thats the question that can only be answered on a personal basis.

I HAVE seen the car about a year ago when Yasmine and I changed a faulty relay pack in one of the doors (intermittent window fault) and at that time it was a real peach all original bodywork paint was very good and the interior was exceptional the lady who owns it has had it for quite a few years and although i cant say for sure what the actual mileage is i believe it to be low

Hello Alistair,
I might be interested in the car dependent on the conditions inc. MOT, tax and price. If it is an automatic I will not be interested. I am a three pedal person.

probably me tbh HOWEVER as you have expressed interest considerably sooner i feel it fair to give you the opportunity of this fine beast in the first instance

ok the mot on said vehicle is out it needs some front suspension work (not all for the mot) but the owner was inquiring about having wishbones droplinks and front struts replaced in all honesty the struts are a bit soft but unless they are peeing fluid they are not a fail on the mot any longer the wishbone bushes iirc were an advisory on the last mot as they were slightly split bushes are cheap enough and easy to replace arms not so but there is the choice the tax is out on the car the end of this month and when it is it will be going to the crusher the gent cannot have it hanging about collecting fines etc

Just to make it clear to anyone thats interested I won't be pursuing this car its an auto which is not my cup of tea. It looks like it could be well worth saving if someone else has the inclination and wherewithal.
