Nice motors. Your obviously very keen. Do you guys know about 2 other clubs? TC is a free contact site. The other two are clubs you have to pay to be in and are for more GM cars:-

VODC (Vauxhall Opel drivers club)
ABS (autobarnstormers - 6 cylinder GM and all carltons - recently opened to all carltons even if not 6 cyl.)

Both have quarterly magazines. Your a long way off but would open further doors for technical help questions. These sites might be useful to you. I'm assuming your cars are very similar to ours in the UK. They look the same.

www.opeloem.com
www.topbuzz.co.uk/info/fault_codes/fault_codes.htm
www.autobahnstormers.org
www.vodc.co.uk

Any problems, just ask. A mass of knowledge on here with very helpful people.

Good question Keith. As far as I am aware, the UK and European market models were all built in Russelsheim. As they are Chevrolet in south America, I would hazard a guess and say there was an assembly plant on that side of the world. Some have 4.1 litre engines, which we didn't get. Price of unleaded these days is killing me with a 2.0 litre! A 4.1 would be nice.
Everyone knows that rwd is the proper way. Some refuse to admit it.

Now drives a Renault Scenic dCi Dynamique Tom Tom

hi kevinfourlegs, this is one of the reasons why Brazilians do not get excited by powerful cars, gasoline, today the car over here ECONOMIC are much more accepted by consumers. but I have thousands of people around here who are lovers of speed and power. eg omega lotus and the dream of many here in Brazil. so that is gone with the omega engines 2.0,2.2,3.0 and 4.1. the best are those that are 3.0 and 4.1 six-cylinder

If the Brazilian Omega/Carlton was produced from 1993 and the last models in the UK were selling in 1994, it sounds to me like the tooling was transferred to Brazil? The shut down of the Carlton/Omega production line would have been at the European plant shutdown in August 1993.

Or, the bodies were still manufactured in Europe and the Brazilian plant was an assembly plant only.

Its quite common for european tooling to be transferred overseas. The classic example of this is the Old Morris Oxford from the 1960's which were, or still are, produced in India over 30 years later. The old Rootes Hunter was produced in Iran for many years after the tooling was transferred. The latest model to go was the Rover 75 tooling to China.
