10 stacker........will it fit
« on: June 26, 2012, 08:56:23 PM »
Swaping over the head and cd stacker from the blue one into my red one before the blue one goes. Want to fit the stacker unit into the glove box, before you all say it............. im going to make it fit lol. I dont see the point of loading cd`s from the boot when you can do this from the drivers seat and save boot space too. Question is anyone already done said mod? does seem a rather straight forward thing to do

Did this on my Black CDx saloon
Works fine but you have to do a bit of cutting in the glove box.
Might be a post on here somewhere

I've done it too, but like Whippit says, you will need to cut a fair bit off uif back of the glovebox to make it fit.  The downside to having it in the glovebox is that it will be more sensitive to cd's jumping when your driving over rough roads.

If you're using the estates cd changer, don't forget to change the orientation springs as well.  There's one on each side of the cd changer unit under covers with a sticker on saying which way round they should go.

Don't fit it in the glove box, you won't have room for anything else & as murph says, it jumps badly. I had this in my vec-b & the stacker would eject,,, >:(

It was me that said about the jumping! Lol!

It wasn't that bad in my experience, just on really rough roads it would jump.  I'd still say it was worth doing.

I had a pioneer single CD player in the Glove box on my G reg carlton but  it jumped a lot because of the angle its at.

I.E. it's not quite horizontal and inbetween any of the angular settings.

That was the top of the range cd player from pioneer in '92 and single din fitting.

Couldn't fit it under the radio because of cab radio being there.

Got a boot mounted multi-changer that worked a dream.

Also there's a lot of heat build up in the small enclosed space of the glove box (summer from the Sun, winter from the heating) and they don't like to get too hot.

Easy going untill PUSHED!!!!

Hmmm some food for thought lol, will see what way i go when i come to remove it ;)

But my main worry was the heat situation but if it`s been done before and works......................

I never had any bother with it jumping or overheating.

I don't suppose I would have if I'd lived up here then.
But when stuck in traffic down south it would overheat and cut out, usually when in town(London). :(
I would think that aircon would help seeing as the glove box is cooled by it. 8)

If the glovebox had been cut, will the aircon be just as efficient in there?
Everyone knows that rwd is the proper way. Some refuse to admit it.

Now drives a Renault Scenic dCi Dynamique Tom Tom
