Was just looking at the new lay out etc looks very good Smiley

anyway whilst looking thro found 1 of my old posts in the how to section and realised that i had accidently deleted the picture from my photobucket account  Embarrassed

would it be better if the admin set up a TC account on photobucket then any pics in media, how 2 etc could be backed up and posts modified to link to the TC account?

Saves losing valuable info

when we first started TC I was hoping to copy all the pictures used in the "how to" section and re-host them on TC.

I failed at this!

Im going to look into a few options though as I agree it makes sense. Smiley

Look into the band width and hosting costs......... you might change your mind

I'm on another forum that has this facility and the membership slightly abused it over the course of a year - (not ABS I hasten to add)

they were given 24hrs to clean up and remove enough images to come inside their bandwidth or the forum would be deleted......................

hundreds of "technical" and "how to" images were deleted on mass - some from people no longer on the forum so could not be recovered

If you make it easy to upload images to the forum anything and everything will be uploaded relevant or not

Sorry but regardless of cost how fugging hard is photobucket or flickr to manage anyway

No offence but just M2pW

dont worry matey, I wont be running in head first. Have to say on the old hosts the bandwidth wouldnt of been an issue as it was a silly figure, will have to check with my brother what we get on our current hosts.

My main concerns are people hosting irrelevant stuff, but my main plan is just to allow people to attach pictures to their posts only in the How - To section, and only on how tos (ie if its not relevant it gets deleted.) I do need to get in there anyway and have a clean up.

If there were any need to delete images for space reasons I would back them all up before hand! Smiley

Im aware of potential problems, which is why I havent rushed in. Smiley

Thanks for the input though, its always good to have everything out there Smiley

I will check my bandwidth limits, current usage and disk space availability and see what we can come up with for you.

I would lean towards restricting it to images you really need to keep. Random pics of cars for sale, "look at my rebuild" etc don't matter as much if the person takes em off photobucket.

How to's are somewhat useless without pics though Smiley

I will have a chat with my bro about it and see what can be done.
