I really wanted a front splitter, summat I drew out and liked the look of - and I was right (naturally!), as it looks brilliant on yours - kinda fits in with the age and era of the car. Cool

Thing is, I used an original Lotus bumper, and as we all know they have that rubber strip at the bottom, and I couldn't bring myself to mod a genuine bumper - I let a lampost do that for me LOL!!! Roll Eyes
The replacement bumper is a David N*o (sorry to swear, lads!!) and perfect copy (and I hate to say it, but it's true!), much better quality than the Dove Company made for Lotus.

I wasn't 100% sure whether I'd be going to Billing this year, but apparently, my mate Jack Daniels said he was going, and he said that its against The Law if I don't go, so I'll crack on with the engine transplant this week.

Hopefully, The Louts will be at Billing 2009 for that photo opportunity - we'll see...............

Well folks got home from work today and decided to get the fuel tank out to have a look inside, What a mess inside my best guess would be filler dust, The fuel was all milky and a thick paste covering the bottom of the tank.

So the quickest fix is use the tank and pump out of the Senator, I’m going to fit one of my spare fuel rails and injectors and clean out the fuel pipes, fingers crossed.

One good thing has come out of it,diffs not been happy so I was going to change it anyway, much easier now the tank is out, So the diffs on the floor now as well.

If you're gonna have to rip the mill out anyway, then go for it!
If I can get mine ready for Billing, then I'm sure a man of your talents can...........

Take that as the gauntlet being laid! Wink

Nah Lost it now,if the ehgine comes out of the senator now I know it wont go back together and that would defeat the purpose of buying it.I have a spare bottom end under my bench which I'll rip apart and use it to repair the one in the carlton.

I'm on the wind down now for my holidays so thats it,I know the way I'm feeling right now not to touch it,Sorry guys.

Ok the heads off, two bloody seals away, both off them on the exhaust on number six that would explain why there was so much smoke and the sooty plug when I did the compression test.

Going to take the head to work tomorrow and get the valves ground in, then give the head a rub on the surfacing table and give it a good clean up, ready to go back on when the seals come.

Well guys thats the Carlton back on the road again,Been busy rebuilding the original engine that came in the car when I got it at first.

Fitted a new set of shells and rings, had the block honed and the crank polished,Then fitted the head that I had ported, skimmed and a set of new valve seals fitted.I've done over 200 miles and all seems fine so far.

Good work, Mr. Blue.

Mine only saw the road to blow itself to bits (back in April) and since then, been sat in t'garage after fitting another engine. All due to lack of funds this year. Now things on the job-front are more stable, it should be out to play again in March with a trip down to Cornwall - probably take my new MV6 as back up though.............
Hope to get an engine stand soon, so I can strip the blown engine and find out why/what/where it failed, then decide what to do with it, as it's only covered 5000 miles.

Have a good look at the thread on the other side about the oil thermostat,I would almost bet that might have something to do with it.Like my one yours sits about for long spells without getting a good run.

If you want one off those bypass plugs I'd easy make you one.
