Does anyone know how to go about replacing the switch bulbs? Also, does the trip computer have a bulb to light it? Cheers.

Hi Gordon. Trip computer should be lit. One bulb in the back. Are you talking about the row of switchs above the stereo for heated rear window etc? If you are you need to dismantle the switch so you can un solder/cut the wires to the grain of wheat bulbs. Your need to find a friendly face at RS as Maplins have become very dear for the little bleeders!!!!!!

Pretty easy apart from the hazard warning switch, just un-solder the grain of wheat & solder in an LED (don't forget you'll need a current limiting resistor - see illustration - LED conversion on the right). If you order some from 'amigoofchina' (eBay), they'll send you ten + suitable (12v) resistors for about £1.

I'm still experimenting with the LED switches that Murph did for me, so far I have taken one and scuffed the surface of the LED with 1200 grade wet and dry to try and dim it down a bit, it has sort of worked but is still very bright, next thing to try is shave the top of the led flat to try and disperse the light as well as dull the surface. I will let you know how I get on and post some pics of the before and after.

Mr. Flash did mine, and they're top-notch! Mr. Bootie - you can dull them further by using wet 'n' dry as you say, then a blob or two from a white marker pen, or the old-fashioned correction fluid.

put a heavier resistor in that will limit the available current and should reduce the light output somewhat!!

If you angle the LED in the trip computer so it points to the screen of the TC you get more even illumination. The factory fitted bulb goes sideways but works cause light comes out of the side of it wheres it only comes out of the top of the LED.

Mine are tempermental. Sometimes they light up, sometimes they don't. Now I know why I couldn't see a bulb. Didn't know I had to dismantle the switch. B*****ks.
