This is an easy mod for you guys with a manual box.
This has been done on my carlton by another member (carlton-mad) and I, for one, am well happy with it, as it stops you having to reach so far to select first.
Right then. Here we go!
First, remove the leather cover and the gearlever surround. Underneath you will see another gaiter, this time rubber. This needs to be lifted up.
Now jack up and support the front of the car so you can get underneath, and look for a rubber boot about 6 inches long. This can be removed by removing the four push-clips, two each side. You should be able to work around the prop easily enough.
You should now see this:

Remove the pivot pin from the linkage as shown by removing the spring clip from one end and then sliding out the pin.

Remove the four bolts (arrowed). The gear lever can now be removed from the vehicle.
The procedure for the Omega is exactly the same, although it will be worth checking the bushes on the new leaver for signs of wear - no point changing it if you're going to end up stirring porridge!
In true Haynes stylee - Refitting is the reversal of removal, and you should end up with something like this:

Comfy too! LOL
Hope this helps guy's and girls, and have fun!
