«

i bought my gsi with only two original lightwieght wheels on it there are looking a little rough, i have bought another four for the car but they appear to be painted.
did the lightwieghts come painted or just polished aluminium?
i prefer the polished aluminium look and would like to do it to the lot so:- how should i strip the paint from the four i've bought? and how do i polish up what i have left?
any help appriciated

If your talking about early GSI wheels then they were polished and laquered which is why they yellow slightly with age

They are lacquered, just remove the lacquer & polish the wheels!
I have several of these wheels also (12 at the last count!).

what should i use to strip the laquer?
not sure how chemicals would react with aluminum is my problem
polish the aluminum up with something like G3 and a buffer? not big into metal polishing if it isn't that obvious

You can use stuff like Nitromors on aluminium, I don't think it'll hurt it as you need to wash it off when it's done it's job.
Easy to polish with accessories for your power drill, plus a bit if Elbow Grease!
