Mmmmm.. raised this point myself a long time ago (along with others), nothing came of it so far as I know. Will be experimenting myself very soon, will post an update including a 'How To' if I am successful...

No mate - alot smaller. There's a guy on ebay that sold me some yellow dials for my Cally who said he might be able to help out with Carlton dials. I haven't fitted the Cally dials yet, so can;t comment on quality, but he only charged me a fiver(ish) inc. p&p. I asked about Carlton dials and he replied saying he might be able to do white ones, which is no good for me. Tell you what, start a list of peeps interested, and I'll pass it on, or I'll find his ebay name and let you know.

Hi guys sorry Ive not responded to this one I just don't have the time to work with them at the moment,The stage the dials are at is much the same as before the design is all done but cant get them to light properly in the dark,if anyone has some ideas they are more than welcome to get the designs Ive made and see what you can do with them. Ive had a go printing on to a Matt vinyl and also cutting out coloured vinyl and always have the same problem off the light coming through uneven the only one that work well is if you make black ones they come all right. The biggest problem is the way they are light originaly with the 4 bulbs, they cast to many shadows from the parts inside the clocks, have tryed a few things with LED's and smaller bulbs mouted in diffrent places but so far no luck,so if any one wants to have a go please go for it. I've got all the designs from the origanal dials on hard disk so I can put them on a disk for you, that was the hard part which took a lot of time,Heres the ones Ive been working with last.

They look sooooo much better with proper numbers instead of the standard 'Early Learning Centre' numbers!

Look superb, maybe the only way might be a combination of backlighting and front lighting (enough frontlight to get rid of the shadows), am hoping to see Chris soon to pick up a speedo, will post up my success (or failure) when done, will do a night shot as well, see what happens... Terrific looking dials though..well cool Quick question... did you have any probleems fitting the needles back on and did removal affect calibration or haven't you tried it out yet? Just curious as I was wondering if the needles are tensioned...

Both the speedo and rev counter are ok as they sit on stops inside the dials, the temp and fuel gauges are tensioned, the way i took them off was to pull out the stop pins and they will drop down a bit,i marked the old faces where they were and used that mark to gauge where to fit them back on. The biggest problem with the lighting is in the fuel and temp gauges there is two tubes that runs up to the fuel light and the temp light thats what causes the most shadows, lighting them from the front might work, hope you have some luck. I have the original dial faces scaned,I can email them to you if you want them, there is both 140 and 160 speedo's,Thats where i start from. Thats one where i drilled a hole in through the top just behind the dials which worked not to bad. Thats the scan of the original dials you can have that if you want,I used photoshop from that to change the design to what you want.

Thanks for the info, certainly helps... Thanks for the offer of the scan but I am getting a speedo from Carlton Mad so hoping to modify the existing one rather than recreate it, will let you know how it comes out... fingers crossed...
