After much work I am please to confirm that the VODC (Vauxhall Opel drivers club) and Totalcarlton have in effect joined forces.
For the last year there has been talk of Totalcarlton becoming a club, the reason we haven’t done this is due to the amount of work needed, and by joining another well establish club, we can help them, and they can help us, we`re all winners!!, also most of us have other have Vauxhalls so it makes sense really.
How it will effect our forum
Simple it wont, the only changes you will notice is a new member of admin, an advert at the top of the page, and a new section
How it benefits us
The VODC offers this

Access to all 'Club member' parts of the site.
Able to attend all events usually at reduced price admission (sometimes its totally free!). Including the VBOA Rally at Billing and PVS.
Discounted insurance scheme.
Vauxhall Trade Club discount at Vauxhall dealers.
Discounts from companies such as LMF Vauxhall, AA plus others. New discounts are being negotiated all the time.
Parts 'finder' service
Club merchandise
Membership card (with trade club stamp) Car sticker and Key ring
Regular updates via e-mail.
Discounted e-bay seller service!

FOR JUST £10 A YEAR!!!!! you can also upgrade your membership, and other details can be found here http://www.vodc.co.uk/showthread.php?t=73

Also the VDOC have agreed to allow us to have a section of there area at billing.

£10 very well spent if you ask me.

All you guy's and gals wishing to sign up to VODC can find all the relevant details here.

The administrator (Mark) is a good bloke but is busy with a full time job and a new member of the family, but he will process all applications and/or enquiries as soon as possible.

Also, all new forum members must be approved by the admin team but this takes almost no time at all - I for one will be looking out for familiar names.

Hi All,
Its Mark from the VODC here and i would just like to extend a warm welcome to the members of totalcarlton who may be thinking of joining us in the future.

I would ask that if you are thinking of coming to the Billing show that you join up and add your name to the list as soon as you can as we already have quite a few names on the list and I will soon have to order windscreen stickers so I would hate not to have enough.

If you have any questions or problems please PM me either on here or on the VODC site as my username is the same on both sites (vauxhallnutter)

Best Regards
Mark

No you can still log on here and always will be able to.

The joining gives us the ability to attend events like the VBOA rally at Billing as part of a larger club without us losing our identity as a Carlton Forum.

If you decide to join VODC you will be entitled to park and/or show your car in the VODC paddock and will be entitled to all the VODC benefits.  Because the VBOA's new rules require that any club or organisation wishing to have their own area in the grounds at Billing we had 3 choices.
1 - Not attend Billing as a club.
2 - Apply for VBOA club status in our own right. (Lengthy and expensive)
3 - Become affiliated with an exisying VBOA club.

We took option 3.
You do NOT have to join VODC but the membership benefits outweigh the costs IMHO.

Yep - you need to join a VBOA (Vauxhall, Bedford, Opel Association) club to park or show your car in a club area.

Might be one of those sites that needs admin approval (like VXPirates).
Good idea, as it stops spambots putting up shite and stealing email addresses and phone numbers.

I do wonder if we could do with the same system on here sometimes - I mean, the amount of porn links us poor admins have to delete..............and none of the links ever work properly! Roll Eyes

See, we're doing the hard work so you don;t have to! Grin

Hi All,
Just a note to say that if you do register on the VODC site (please do!) and you have a hotmail, aol , Yahoo e-mail account please check your junk mail folder for your conformation e-mail as sometimes they go in there.

Also as previously mentioned, if you would like to join us at billing (or any of our other meets / shows) then you need to be a club member which costs from £10 per year.

Finally once you have joined if you would like to attend the VBOA Rally with us then please add your name to the list asap as we will need to order the passes very soon (in fact I will most likely be asked how many i want at the VBOA meeting next sunday (3rd Feb)) and I wouldn't want anyone to be disapointed.

If you have any problems at all or any questions please pm me either here or on the vodc site.

Best Regards
Mark
