Hi all,

does anyone know if the walnut trim around the auto gear selector  can be removed as i would like to change it for the standard black trim from a gl if not may try and rub it down and paint it black any ideas or suggestions welcome.

Probably easiest to swap it.

It can be easily removed by removing the small panel under the handbrake then removing the 2 retaining screws.

correction removal is by pulling the gaiter out and undoing the 2 screws!!

(i had to look at the one on ebay)

thanks for the replies sounds like it should not be a problem too change then which is good.  The hard bit is trying to find the auto surround and the dash blank under the stereo in standard black i think i will post a request in the wanted section or maybe a swap hopefully that will turn something up thanks again for your help

Is it a dash blank or the cubby hole you want under the radio.  I might have a spare cubby hole somewhere.  I say might, i've definately got on in my GSi (it came out of another car) but i'm sure i've another one somewhere.  Think i'd be struggling with an autobox surround though.

bit of info for you, if youve got the suround out of a cdx (round edges) you can remove the trim from the surroud its helo on by vry smal screws along the side, and when its removed the gl auto surround is there,

how cheap where gm eh Tongue
