Has anyone tried putting a 7" screen in the dash?

I thought about putting it in place of the middle blowers, but the top side isn't flat, and I think a regular 7" monitor is either going to be a very tight fit, or not going to fit at all.

I don't want to screw it on top of the dash, I prefer it to be flush mounted somewhere.
Preferably also visible from the passenger's seat.

Anyone got pics, info, anythingthat might be helpful?

Thx in advance!!

i've removed the ash tray to fit my eq there you could  always fit you head unit there and the 7"screen where the 2 head units go (removing the plastic strip from the middle  leaving one big square hole )

i'm working on some headrest at the mo' to fit 2 screens & re trim

I will have a look...
Maybe it'll be too low for a navigation system, but it's worth a try...

It should be easily visible when driving, that's the main use, maybe I'll add a dvd player later on as well
(I need to rob a bank or some old folks first  Grin ...)

anyway I really like that set-up of yours...

as for the person who asked about my headlight conversion i dident do it but the lights are from a ford escort mark 5 quad conversion that was heavely addapted i could do this for some one but they would have to get the lights and i would have to charge at least 500 quid to do it i hope this helps many thanks craig

the pic of the screen is how i am going to leave it i am going to colour code the bit around the screen blue so the conversion that i do will look the same as mine does in the pic but in primer so all u will have to do is either colour code it to your car or trim it in wat ever you want hope that helps if you want any more pics email me on craigandanne@tiscali.co.uk and i will take some other pics for you if you like cheers craig

has any one mounted the screens in the head rests on a carlton or senator . With the head unit in the dash  ?.

Contemplating having it fitted in the future for both the diplomat and the senator , and then having the windows blacked out for security purposes . Smiley

We've just done some at work (to a Cavalier Recaro seat, but same headrests as Astra/Carly/Senny/Meega etc).
The guy supplied the seats and a pair of 5.6" screens, with some sort of fitting kit - that went straight in the bin!

We removed the screens, had to cut up the Cav headrests to get the screens to fit (not much of them left, now!!), allow for thickness of leather re-trim, rebuild the padding in the headrest, then strip the whole lot down. We have yet to leather and rebuild them.
Yeah, they'll look cool, but what a PITA! The seats are for his restored 1960's VW Bus.

We might also be making some headrest covers too.

seems a pity to destroy the head rests . so i think i`ll just stick to my original plan and buy a dvd player with two strap on screens . ASDA are doing some for under £120.00 and they look fairly decent . Smiley
