Just taken over 20 mins and 7 attempts to log on, and TBH, it's soooooo frustrating, that until I get a PM (which sends me an email) to say that the site runs better, I don't think I'll be alive long enough to try and get on TC anymore! Undecided

Rant over. Wink

just login forever, although it still takes ages for pages to load. Alternatively read early in the morning or late at night then its not to bad.

Well, its a quarter past midnight, only Murph and myself on the site - 11 minutes to reply to a pm and 14 minutes to read and respond to your message John.

I dread getting notification of anything simply cos' I don't even know if I will get in let alone be able to post a response.

I know I spoke to soon. at this rate we will lose lots of members as they will not come back because of the slow load up times.
If I knew how to set up a site I would offer my services to the webmaster as I have loads of time on my hands now.

It really is shocking.
I'm on a couple of other forums and they load in split seconds.
'Tis a shame, coz this is my favourite.
Somebody sort it, pleeeeeze.

I was on at just after 5am this morning and it was shockingly slow. Gave up in the end. Seems OK at present.

Not sure if its relevant but I see the forum software is version 1.0.6, on the smf website the latest version is 1.1.3.
Sometimes it can be as simple as upgarding software, I only make this comment because we keep getting smf/database errors.

A possibility? maybe?

We have a software update coming up soon - the chap that does our site software is a busy chap who's hard to pin down but he has promised ColonelK some time.

You may also recall the trial mirror of a new site host a short while ago.

Things are moving behind the scenes fella's - hopefully we will see some results soon.

Sooner rather than later murph, this problem has been happening for a long time. I think we are all fed up with it. It is only that this is an excelent site with a great bunch of lads that I stick with it.

I'm glad it's not only me having download problems. Last night I couldn't get past the home page - so gave up. Today, it's taken ages to get this far. Please get it fixed. It's such a good site and it would be a shame to lose all knowledge and networking that's available here.

17 minutes to get into this this evening, kept getting smf error.
Problem is now, if I need to contact anybody I can't even be certain of getting on the site in time.
Have signed up to vodc as well under the same username just so I am contactable.
I really don't want to give up on TC but it is really starting to frustrate the hell out of me. Angry

I have stuff I am waiting for but at times I am not even sure if I can contact the seller just because of the problems with the site, and it seems that they are getting worse instead of better. Huh

Sorry guys but I would be more than happy to pay a membership fee if it meant we had a stable working site, I'm, pretty sure that many others feel the same way.   Sad Sad Sad

I know what you are saying and my heart does go out to them but 11 minutes to read your response and another 7 just to post this is getting hard to take.
At other times it will fly along, there is no reason or pattern to it which is what makes it so frustrating. incidentally I registered on your Opel site as well under the same username so I am contactable on there as well.

I know it is hard for ColonelK and others as this has to be done in whatever time they have available, I appreciate they have jobs, family and lives, it can't be easy trying to squeeze this in as well so I do understand, as I am sure others do.

By the way, I did try the mirror site - superb! Quikc to load, quick to get into, superb! More of that please... Grin

If it's any consolation, threads such as this can and will be presented to our hosts as evidence of our difficulties.

Not that it matters much - I shouldnt think we'll be with them for too much longer.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest we all use the test mirror as a temporary measure.

Go to http://totalcarlton.jwheeler.me.uk/forums/index.php and log in with your normal username and password.

Any posts made here in recent weeks wont be there and I'm afraid our newer members wont have an account as yet due to the site being a mirror of TC as it was a few weeks ago.  It will however allow the majority of us to keep in touch until the current issues can be sorted.

At least it will allow us to give the other hosts a real test! Grin

Hi guys.

Sorry I havent been around much. I just generally suck. Hopefully that will be sorted soon. (me being crap that is! but thats a separate issue)

Murphs right, me and my bro are working on an up to date piece of software for this forum that will be used on the new server. You'll know when it starts to happen as you wont get on TC at all, and you will recieve an email / PM when its ready to go Smiley

Again apologies to all.

As a side note, our current hosts (not for long!) are currently updating their SQL servers in an attempt to solve matters. I presume this is the cause of the current issues.
