I have decided to break my 3.0 24v Diamond as although the arches are spot on and theres very little sign if rot, I wouldnt feel comfortable selling it to someone on the forum as a whole.

I have never driven the car but when I got it a friend drove it home for me,

The passenger front wheel had taken a real hard bang and it was sitting at a funny angle, The car drove ok apart from pulling to the left.

I have since put on a different strut which has straightened the wheel although its still set back slightly.

It still pulls to the left.

The windscreen is broken

The grill is broken

The o/s indicator is broken

The drivers side wing has a dent just at the indicator

The passenger side has a nice wobbly key coach line from the wing to the rear quarter

There are 4 Diamond wheels but 1 is mangled, 3 tyres are flat

The interior is NOT for sale at this time..... This might change but at the moment I have plans for the lot.

There is a good load cover

The engine and box are availible, it went through the gears well but I think the timing chain is rattling slightly.

Irmscher wood steering wheel

What do you need?

I still think it's worth someone buying this whole.
Mechanical parts are fairly easily replaced.
That bodywork looks pretty spot-on as you say Fraz.
That's a good starting point for a resto.

I agree with tetley there.

my diamond was is a state mechanically but body was good hence why i'm restoring mine.

maybe a little more corrosion but im sure it would suit someone (i would of had it but i tghink my neightbours would kill me, even it it is for parts!!)

Far far too good to break, that can and should be taken on. If only I hadn't committed to moving to Spain! Cry
Ideal replacement for the 2.6 estate.

I really want the interior for my Diplomat so that is the main reason for breaking it, Its not as desirable without its front seats. How much is it worth? Theres no Tax or MOT.

Your are aware that the rear seats wont go in the back of the dippy aren't you? It's worth a few hundred as it is. Excluding the interior it's not worth a great deal in terms of bits. The interior is the main part that everyone wants. The way i see it is thus

Quote
It still pulls to the left
. - new wishbone - got a spare

Quote
The windscreen is broken
- Insurance job, or £90 new.

Quote
The grill is broken
Got a spare

Quote
The o/s indicator is broken
got a spare

Quote
The drivers side wing has a dent just at the indicator
Easy to get hold, five minute job to fit

Quote
The passenger side has a nice wobbly key coach line from the wing to the rear quarter
- Bit more costly

Quote
There are 4 Diamond wheels but 1 is mangled, 3 tyres are flat
- Got a full set that need using before they perish

Quote
the engine and box are availible, it went through the gears well but I think the timing chain is rattling slightly
Got a spare, but drive it until they go

Thats not really a lot of work, at worst it might need a bit welding or some work on the brakes once done but these cars are worth a fair bit. Definatly definatly worth saving.

Tell you what let me have a chat with a workmate. If i can store it on his farm, id give you a few hundred for it...or a i have 2.3TD taxed and tested that i want shut-of.

I know the back seats wont fit but the fronts will as well as the black dash and door cards, I could source a black carlton or senator back seat, that wouldnt too be hard.

I know its the interior that everyone wants, Thats why I want it, because I miss my old Diamond. It is near perfect, no rips or tears and the door panels are ace too.

But if the price is right I will sell whole.

Seeing as you're moving to Spain Jon, you may as well buy this.
Looks like a 2.0 Diamond.

No i bought it as a run-about, but amazingly, iv still got my curtesy car! I can't believe how long Norwich Union are draggings this on for. It's not been idle though, old fella's been using it as his navara' ticket is up (which he's selling to hopefully be replaced by a certain abs members diamond).

Current fleet stands like this

Monza GSE
Carlton 2.6 estate
Senny 24v (not technically mine)
Mondeo 1.8 (lent to a friend)
Carlton Diesel
Avensis.

bit of a piss-take!

Anyhow a bit of topic!

No offence taken....

Theres a bit of a difference from £100 to the "few hundred" you mentioned in a previous post haha

I'll take the interior then you can have it for £100, how does that sound lol

Seriously though, Thanks anyway but no, I'll just break it, Its worth loads more than that in bits Wink

I know. But i did a search and realised how far away you were and nearly shat me pants. Just seems a shame to break what is quite a sortable car. If you were local id give you £300 for it but your not.

Seriously though, get it fixed? There so practical and in terms of bits, yes its worth more than £100, but then there's the time stripping it. Might aswell fix it?

Yeah i saw that as well, got me thinking! Still planning on taking the 2.6 so we can take a box trailer. Besides I think it will be nice drive from Santander down to Almeria, bout the same as Scotland to Cornwall, just a wee bit warmer. Cheesy

I have my Volvo if I need to carry anything big so I have need for another estate, I dont have the funds to be spending a few hundred on it not to see any profit. I know they're getting rare now but it will live on in other cars and as I am so far away from most on here everyone is still going to have the same problem as you. I will only strip it of bits people want when they want, but wont be till a week this weekend. I will probably make a trailer out the back once I have got rid of most of it.

Why do you want one??!!!!

My old one was sold to a guy from Spalding.  Never seen it since but the guy was decent enough to email me a couple of days later to say he was very pleased with it!  Wish i hadn't sold it but if i hadn't then i wouldn't have bought the manual 12v Senator which i swapped for a Monza turret rebuild!  So i can't complain really!!

The whole interior i.e seats (front and back) door cards and the dash have all gone.

I still have all the switches, speedo clocks and computer.

Whats the 3 Diamond wheels worth?

Any interest in the engine and box?

The Irmscher steering wheel needs to go as well.

The cars just about ready to be chopped in half. After that the front will be scrapped.
