Straight from the horses mouth.....

Quote
MySQL and Slow Speeds
I just wanted to give everyone concerned an update on the issue where some customers are experiencing intermittent sluggishness/non-responsiveness of their sites.

Basically, there is currently no limit as to the number of database connections any user can make with the server. So if someone tries to visit a site with a large database, the script running on the site can potentially open up a bunch of mysql connections in order to fulfill demand and leave none open for other customers on the same pool. Ultimately, this leads to other customers waiting for an open connection (sluggishness) or not getting one at all (non-responsiveness).

We're going to be working as hard and fast as possible to implement connection limits and possibly upgrade MySQL to version 5.

Thank you for your ongoing patience.

So hopefully not long now chaps!

Doing my bulb in.

Taking far too long - I really can't be arsed TBH!

I only come on here for a few minutes to see if it takes time, and it always does now - pi$$es me right off, I'm afraid. This post has taken fookin' ages, and I ain't got lights on me bike.

As said, I'd chip in to get a better host or server thingy - this one's crap with a capital C R A P!

Yeah, I agree with all that, Pete.......though all the other 'FREE' forums seem to be OK - it's just this one Angry

Having said that, it's been said lately that the 'net' is due for a possible 'meltdown' - there's been a talk of this on 'News 24' a few days ago & also on a 'tech' prog on the radio yesterday Undecided

The internet is going to go slower & slower until it stops unless some serious money is thrown at it..........so they say Roll Eyes

Like you, Pete, I'm not going to make any serious posts while the forum is like this (you need to copy & save everything before you attempt to post, or it just disappears into the great beyond Shocked

It's not too bad just at the moment, though Wink Roll Eyes

Let's hope all the info on this site is safely backed up somewhere - just in case it all goes 'tits-up' Undecided

Sorry about this chaps. I am looking at new hosts. There would be no need to pay, Id just adjust the feature to customer service ratio.

Its a shame because when this host has everything running right it runs supremely. They have many unhappy people on their user boards and have promised a resolution within the week. Thing is, customer service sucks and we have been promised a solution before. They have just upgraded their systems and while that isnt easy, it shouldnt cause a problem like this. If people want to leave then I cant blame them. I WILL be sending out a mass email when I have resolved the issue however.

The host Im planning on using I have used in the past and they are very good with customer service. Not THE most reliable, but when you have a problem theres someone to talk to, quite often the MD!
