Cruise Control on Mk 3 Carlton 2.0 Litre Manual. Is there a Speed Sensor fitted to prevent you using the control below 40Mph and if so can you please tell me where it is located?

IIRC it uses a pulse from the engine ECU - someone will shout if I'm wrong on that.

I'm sure it should work at 30 though!

It may not be a problem with the speed sensor, mine was very erratic until I discovered the problem outlined below.

Cheers m8, The information does make sense but i have tried another Cruise Control ECU and Switch.
I have also checked the loom in between the two of them for Continuity.
Looking at the wiring diagram there is what is called a Clutch Relay which cancels the CRC when you brake ,so this the next thing to check and also of course the Double Brake Light-CRC Switch.
Will keep you upto date.

on the manual models there is no relay there should be a switch on the clutch pedal that cancells the cruise when you put the clutch in

Cheers m8,as you say there is no sign of the Clutch Relay any where on the car so i will have to look in the clutch pedal area when i take the trim down again.
Thinking about it,if you were to change gear with the crc engaged the engine revs would suddenly rise as you dipped the clutch and so it makes sense to fit a switch that disengages it.
Many Thanks once again for your invaluably input. Smiley
