Spark plugs are controlled by ???

is it the ecu that controls the degree of advance, or by what is this controlled?
I remember my previous car had a vacuum lead to the distributor, that advanced the timing if the engine was under load.

Now here this is not the case, and I don't quite understand how the Hall sensor can be moved in regard to the camshaft

anyone care to explain?

Hall sensor is just a gizmo that converts waveform signal to square waveform by grounding it out , squarewave form is a signal to the ecu the faster it goes or the smalierteh square wave gets the the more the ecu advances the ignition!! thats why the car runs so crap when the hall sensor dies cos the ecu dont get the signals in a pure form so goes to limp mode!!!

UD: I had one... but she wasn't interested in cars... She once kicked over a bucket of old oil in her garage (I haven't got a garage of my own, so I did my oil changes/small repairs on my kadett over there if it was raining in the weekend) and I had to go...

Not really looking for another, for the time being... gotta sort me car first... once the respray is over, and the parts are outta my living room, I'll see...

Hey UD - you're right there...
but on another note, do you know many girls who like to get into a living room and the first thing they notice is that big machine (being a lathe, and yes it's in my living room as the fundaments of the back of the house (built many years ago) aren't strong enough...)

so I better get my car sorted first, and while I'm at it, I'm curious to whatever I encounter in the process.
I've done [automotive] engineering at school, but we've had more the recent diesel thingies covered, rather than old petrol engines...


But NO, I do prefer a young girl stripping instead of ECU issues, that's a fact... but hey, tomorrow is friday again! Glad I am living in a neighbourhood where there's lots of things to do and places to go to... working in a bar helps too

About the toolroom: here's a piccie of the small version  this is in the shed...
I bought this one as a replacement for the large lathe... that one will have to go soon...
Too bad as I really used that one a lot, but mostly for smaller things (another hobby),
This small lathe can handle quite a lot, it just takes longer to do it tho...

As for the Mill, I am thinking of getting one this size, they're really handy,
and you can already do lots of work on them miniature machines...

I was thinking along the same lines, but more like "All that to open a tin can!"
