I've just splashed out and bought a Blaupunkt travelpilot sat-nav and was wondering if the SCV signal could be used for the speed sensing function on this? Anyone got any ideas?

Shouldnt need it mate - the unit should be able to calculate your speed via the GPS, far more accurately that the Senny sensors could.

Ithink he meant for the volume control on the radio/disc player.

There's a kit for the unit I got which adds speed sensors to (I guess) calculate speed, journey time etc. Blaupunkt say its not essential but why would they offer the kit?! I'd have thought it would use GPS too, maybe the kit is just for SCV on the radio?

I believe it is just for the radio/disc unit to up the volume when going faster (more interior noise).

The head unit arrived today and according to the instructions it needs a speed signal from the car not GPS. There are 2 pins for the signal on their own socket at the back of the unit but it doesn't say what each one is for. Is there only one wire for the speed signal from the box?
