Grundig 4870/MCD10 in the bin

I'm toying with the idea of swapping my 4870 for something more modern as the screen is smashed and I can't get the CD changer to work (I can hear it whirring but no sound?!)

Anyway, I want to know if an adpator for the loom ISO connector is available so that I don't have to hack the loom about to get a new ISO connector in for whatever head unit I choose. If there is an adaptor available will I still be able to use the MCD10 with the new head or will that have to go too?

Just out of curiosity does anyone know what the cause of the lack of sound from the MCD10 could be?

AND........is it possible to daisy chain the MCD10 ie fit a couple of changers in series?

behind the grundig head unit is an adaptor piggeybacked(3 block iso),so remove this that leaves you with standard iso plugs(1 for speakers and one for power)then the blue lead that goes to the boot cd unit is compatable with pioneer cd changers(older type,not sure about new range)
i have a pioneer KEH+m9100 head unit and CDM25 6 disc cd changer
works great with the original speakers fantastic sound.

but technology has moved on !!!!!
you can now get a modulator that you plug in,tune your radio to it's station
plug in your iPOD (or most mp3s) and it plays through your car sterio.
so joining cd changers together is not worth the cost or hassle (you need a 20 way relay and splice the looms)
you can also plug in mobile phone mp3 players and usb mp3 players to a modulator if you get the right one.

Excellent. I didn't realise the ISO connector had an adaptor on it. I've got a new Blaupunkt something or other here so I should be able to use that. The modulator is a little transmitter I take it? A mate made one once from a kit in Maplins, so when we went on cruises ( ) we'd all tune our radios into his signal and there'd be 4 or 5 cars banging out the same songs. Anti social but it turned a few heads!

BTW it is a 4870 RDS V. Does that make any difference?

hey does the changer give a clicking sound?

does it eject the cartridge,

these are prety good pieces of equipment i like the old grundy unit ,

what are you goin to do with the old gruny unit if you decide to change ( yes i think i am collecting them lmfao!! )

but i have plans for a made up stereounit for th housE!! crasy i know but different!

I had a 4870 RDS V in my K reg. Diplomat; I bought a RDS C and a 4871 and although the CD changer could be heard operating there was no sound.
On variants other than the RDS V the sound input is via a jack socket on the back of the head unit, I had to cut the loom to add a jack plug for those variants to operate !
