Can anyone shed any light on the sparky bits I may have trouble with in my auto-to-manual conversion on my 24v Senator?
I've read on here about jumping certain pins on the ECU but what else will need to be done to get the car running properly?
Is it possible to use a manual Carlton (donor car) engine loom to fit the engine into my Senator or is that not necessary or even possible?
Any help would be great as the car has been off the road for a month already and I can't wait to start stirring it's cogs!

The Carlton engine will slot straight in as long as you swap over the flywheel/clutch etc, (and I believe you also need a spigot bearing, but I might be wrong there.) all you ned to do WRT electrics is remove the ECU from the scuttle panel and short the pins on the selector switch so the engine will turn when you turn the key.
You'll need ht epedal box too, I assume you'd realised that.
I think that's about it.

if the donor engine is a manual he wont need to swap the flywheel and stuff just the pedal box and a few other minor bits and bobs like the prop and gearbox mounting etc

Is that it?! Jeez.........I thought with all these ECUs and stuff it'd be a pig of a job. Thanks for the quick replies!
What about the cruise control? Am I right in saying that a manual car has a switch on the clutch pedal to disengage CC? Will there be a plug in my cars loom for this?

The cruise control loom is seperate from the main loom and is different on the auto cars. I suppose that in theory you could keep the original loom, except the cruise wouldn't cancel when you pressed the clutch pedal. There is also an additional relay in the auto cruise loom but i can't remember what it is for!
If you want to fit the correct loom, can you not remove it from the manual car you are breaking?

I'll remove it if the donor car has cruise fitted - I'm going next week to pick up the bits so I won't know until then.

I would. Try not to damage the clutch switch as they are extremely hard to get hold of.

Will the clutch switch come off with the pedals? How much of the pedal box will I actually need? Obviously the clutch pedal and master cylinder and the brake pedal but will I need the servo and all that too?

Both Clutch & brake switch for the cruise control should come off with the pedals. Be careful removing the pedal box, one bolt is hidden by the steering column which will also need to be removed to get at it! You wont need the brake servo, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to get the brake master cylinder, or at least the reservoir part of it as it will have the clutch feed pipe on it.

The auto master cylinder has the required outlet to feed the clutch system, its justed been crimped closed - just cut the crimp off and it'll be fine. Dont forget to get the small rubber mount+bracket that the back of the gearbox shifter mechanism sits on, its bolted up to the top of the tunnel and Id get the rubber bit that the gearlever goes through - its riveted to the tunnel.

I used the manual loom and removed the auto engine management loom complete with auto gb ecu`s, all you need to do is loop the starter wire (Black and Red) job done. No ecu wires to short, mine runs sweet
