Hi
« on: May 08, 2005, 09:55:33 PM »

Hi all,

I was on this website a while back, good to see its back. Since then I've sold my Carlton (2litre GLi). No real reason - I was just wanting a change. I'm actually looking for a Senator 3.0i 24v right now (hope that means I can 'stay'on this website!) but if a see a nice, cheap, Carlton CDX or Diplomat I might be tempted again, since the fuel and insurance costs on the Senator is making me think about just getting a 2litre Carlton again...maybe even a 2.6i (same cost to insure as a 2litre for some reason?)

All the best,

Driver

Where have all the Carlton MK2s gone?

Hi Driver and everyone else,

I don't have a Carlton either. I used to have an Omega though - not sure what others on here would think of that? I bought one because I had always wanted a Carlton but wanted something a bit newer. Maybe some day I will get one.

At the moment what I would really like is an early 80s Carlton (mk2?) with the cheese grater grille.

Is this site for all ages of Carltons?

If its vaux and RWD then thats a good start.

And yes ALL ages of Carltons are welcome. I love the old model (as in your picture Andy C Smiley ) which I believe was sold as a Rekord E by Opel on the continent.

Now then!

I've just joined, and have nearly got my Carlton3 back on the road after a 3 year rebuild. She was standard 1989 2.0 litre GLi, but is now a 3 litre GSI - a job not for the faint hearted!

She has a genuine Lotus bodykit with an Lancer Evo6 Sopwith Camel on the boot.

She also has a change of clothes for the inside - either black or light grey leather - and a Senator B dash.

I'll try and put some pics in the gallery.

Only the sills and chassis leg that needed welding on his car and they are halfway done!!!

The car is a beautiful example of a G reg carlton, so there Tongue

I am sure you have Fluid confused with somebody else, don't be so quick to pick fault with others cars when yours is clearly in disrepair Smiley

Ello! Glad to see the website is back up and running Smiley

I'm gonna be hopefully purchasing another carlton very soon.. And have had 5 of them already anyway!

Nice work there pedro, i wanted to do that with one of my old cars but never had the budget to back it up! have you fitted all the gsi bits such as steering rack, rear suspension etc? is there any other major differences between a 2.0 and a 3.0 shell?

Why thankyou sir!

I've fitted evrything - engine, 5 speed box, engine loom, dash loom, exhaust....yada, yada, yada except the ABS, Cruise Control and rear axle.
The rear axle is gonna get powder coated and rebushed etc., (got some Powerflex to fit), and fitted after the summer.

There's a whole bunch of differences between the 2.0 litre and 3.0 litre shells, and had I not had a damn good 2.0 litre to start with, I wouldn't have gone for the conversion - I won't be doing it again, unless someone pays me biiiiiiig bucks!

Pic of the dash (before i ripped it out to fit the aforesaid dash loom!)
