First, you have to get the doorcards off, and there's some prongs on the back of the "wood" to bend back.

Job's a good 'un!

p.s - Don't bend your wood........

I have to disagree, Ian - I think the ''wood'' looks dated, and everyone knows it ain't real wood!

Mine's getting painted when I get the blue 'Super Carbon Film' off..................

One question on the trim, I got a set off an early cdX which was dark in colour and thin in width, then I got an other set from a later model which was thicker and a lighter colour. Is this the norm?

Blippi, If I were you, I really wouldn't paint it chrome. It WILL look naff.

Chrome paint just looks like paint thats trying too hard to be shiney.... It'll be worse than the plastic trying to look like wood!

My advice is, get it painted at the local sprayers, that way it won't look like you've just bought a spray can and tried your best, and they will get a good finish on it. Then it will look the proper job, IMHO.

"Chrome" paint looks pretty poor TBH, but what about "dark chrome" powder coating? Cool

Or even brushed aluminium? Cool Cool Cool

Maybe high shine gloss black? would poss be difficult to do.

Do you mean the leather gater on the handbrake?
Leather would be nice,

I was thinking about suggesting covering them but I was gonna say it would need to be a stretchy material, like leather. I think you're onto a winner there, as long as you get the right leather.

Right this might sound a bit naff, but IMHO if you want leather then you could always get down the local charidee shops and pick up a pair of leather trousers for about a fiver, that will do all the bits you need, just get some spray on adhesive, 3M is the best, and go on from there. I now have enough to do all the door cards and gaiters in black or grey. The only thing is you wont have the embossing unless you have a steady hand and a soldering iron, just get the right tip and off you go. Takes a bit of getting used to but the end result is something that is not too obvious, but you know it's there and can point it out.

Can't see that as being naff, mate - leather is leather!

Older, used leather is usually more supple and "work hardened" than new (apart from Connoly Hide, perhaps).

That's given me an idea.............................
