having a problem routing my power cable for my amps, from the engine bay into the cabin.

I prefer not having to cross the engine bay, but battery is same side as driver (LHD car!), so all the holes are occupied...

Can't get a wire through the holes were the looms pass (rubber grommets are hard from old age, can't remove)
Will have to see what I'll try next... inside is no problem, whole footwell is clear (removed all the sound deadening, once in there it shouldn't be a problem further on).

Is it a double wall?

anyone any suggestions?

why not go through  your right ( glove box ) and run cable under the black plastic cover housing the wiper arms & motor then down & out to battery ?

I've been warned for motor interference, dunno whether or not that's an issue.
anyway I'd prefer not having to cross the engine bay...

Could be a bit of a pain, but could you route it under the sound deadening on the bulkhead, under the car and up through the gearbox tunnel? I know it sounds a bit daft, but it will be out of the way of interference from other wiring and stuff and you could get it to enter the cabin nearer to where you need it ..................

That's a possibility, but I don't have a thing to lift the car into the air... and working from underneath it won't be pleasant...
maybe later on if this won't work out:

What if I route the cable along the front cross member (between the grille and the radiator)?
that way I take the grand tour of the engine bay, and I can enter the car at the glovebox.
There it should be easy to get through the bulkhead,
I just don't know if the extra length will matter, or if I will have interference that way.

Sounds like a plan!

Not that I know too much about ICE, I do know that it's best to keep speaker cables, antenna cables etc as far away from other wires and ecu's, but if your battery is good, then a little longer cabling shouldn't make a difference...........

The only way I found on my 2.0 was to go through the large gromet by the fuel relay. used a sharp thin screwdriver with the wire taped to it.  Smiley

Why don`t you connect to the start motor battery lead then drill a hole through the bulkhead, then into the car behind the glovebox, don`t foget to use a grommet

Finally got some time to do it, and it was actually a 10 min job.

Done it the same way Murph said (see third pic from the top, there's a large grommet, pushed it right through).

Will get some evenings time this week to come, should see quite some progress now.
Wiring up the amps and speakers, and make the enclosures for the woofers.
Pics to follow!
