hi,

I'm a 27 year old software engineer from Hungary with a '93 Opel Omega 24V (C30SEJ, 4spd auto). Basically, I'm into American iron - I build a '80 Pontiac Grand Le Mans Safari station wagon (it has a 301 cui V8 - that's gonna change Smiley) but I also love the Omega which is my daily driver and my wife also enjoys driving her. I bought the ride in July from a friend.

Car is in good condition; almost no rust except for the doors that look kinda nasty (bottoms are rusted out). I won't tear the Omega apart like the Poncho but I plan to refresh it (new exhaust, new paint job, leaks fixed, missing/broken stuff replaced, etc.). Engine and trans are okay, but the differential has been making noise recently. Interior is nice with some minor flaws.

That's all - I'm really happy I found this forum as I've already learned a lot by digging through the archives, however, I need to get used to the British car jargon as it's new to me Wink

Thanks for your time!

as far as I know these were standard on Omega As (well, on 24Vs at least).

okay, another photo:

Some fella hacked a terrible sounding "sport" rear muffler on the car with this disgusting tip, but the entire exhaust system is going to be replaced. I'd like to have a new dual system with nice sounding (and not too restrictive) mufflers and no visible tips (maybe tuned headers?). The wing also needs to be replaced/repainted/whatever because paint is about the peel off.

Hi and welcome to TC Mr. Fi! Grin

Nice looking Omega you have there, and your plans for it sound good.

(I quite like the exhaust tip!)

Is it me, or do those wheels look like they might have lived on a Vectra at some point? Yeah, I know the offset on a Vectra os different etc, but all the same........

Anyway, good to see the TC lurve is spreading far and wide - hope you enjoy your stay here! Grin Grin Grin

Obviously European spec so it will be completely different to the cack we have to put up with...

Its the same wheels as my Diamond, We get set spec in this country where as everyone else can choose whatever they want, i.e wheels, engine and trim level mix n match....

Nice car, and welcome

Also you notice the nice clean front wing! No side repeater so no hole for the tin worm to find. Wonder what the legislation would mean if someone bought one of them to use over here or even use in Spain?

BTW welcome to the forum.

actually, the color is nice, but she definitely needs a new paint job.

the wheels are standard Omega A 24V 15" alloys.

C30SEJ - interesting to that used elsewhere.

J = throttle output (restrictive exhaust)

Those wheels Diamond Alloys also used on Later early Omega B's

Nice looking car BTW  Cool

what do you mean? why would it be difficult over there? I can't imagine that legislation of anything related to cars can be any more difficult than what we have here Smiley

Good spot on the side repeater.
Can't see any issue with legislation as the emissions would be lower from the restricted exhaust.
Would have to pass a VOSA test within 6 months of being brought unless it is covered by a type approval (should be)..........might need to fit those repeaters though.
Saying that there are 3 Polish ones local to me who seem to have no issues LOL (One is similar to this)

umm, pardon me... what would cause problems with legislation in the UK? the exhaust?
what do you mean by 'repeaters'?

The Exhast on yours is restricted so it should more easily pass UK emissions test.
The repeaters are required in the UK and are small indicators which fit on the of the wings (fenders)
they are horrible and spoil the look of the car

Like that (above the CD badge, and I know its a Senator but same thing LOL)

The Louts doesn't have side repeaters, and passed MOT OK for last two years (blimey, it's soon due another!). Tester said that as he can see the front indicators from the side of the car, he's happy to pass it.

Regards the wheels - I kinew I'd seen them somewhere before (obviously on a Carlton Diamond and probably not on a Vectra! Embarrassed)

Monza doesn't have any either - same deal at MOT time

thanks again for the warm greeting!
I sure will keep you updated with any work done, but I don't plan much progress before spring (and I should also continue working on the Pontiac Smiley)
I want to avoid transforming the Omega to another serious project Smiley
