Well Ive seen and heard it all now, 140mph single point injection 1.8 Cavalier, that looks like a GSI Cavalier Grin maybe down hill with a tail wind of 40mph perhaps?? and even then i very much doubt it.

It might make 140 mph if you drop it out of an aircraft at 10.000 feet. Grin

if you take into consideration the weight, drag and the height of the drop the terminal velocity may only reach 139.8 mph  Grin Grin

So 140mph Huh?  don't think so !

Never mind the quality, look at the MPG!!!

Sorry boys, I once got 140 out of a 'K' plate 1.8 LS driving back from Aberdeen in a hurry past Brechin one night. (A little before they littered the road with speed cameras!!!)

Granted it was on a teeny bit of a downhill gradient, but nothing dramatic.

Still, I wouldn't be putting that on an ad' if I was trying to sell it!!

Beat me to it!

My Hybrid was a good example of that, smaller profile tyres than standard sent the speedo over 20mph over the true speed!!

Granted boys, I did forget to put the "by the speedo" caveat in. I also expect you to be skeptical but I'll tell you this much; it felt effin' quick at the time!!!

The other thing was, I was 'chasing' a Cav' GSI 'cos I moticed when he passed me that he'd a radar detector in his windscreen so figured it'd be 'safe' to keep up with him.

For the record, it never went as fast before or since.

I wasn't being skeptical about your claims Roddy - just the ones on the ebay listing!! Having looked at the wheels and tyres fitted  Grin
