Hi guys, this is my first post on the forum so be gentle.

I've had my Gsi 3000 24v for a week and can't seem to get the heated seats working, The previous owner changed the front and rear seats and seems to have left the plug for seats off as it's just poking out of the carpet. Problem i've got is i can't find were on the seat it plugs into. It's the same on both front seats. Any help would be much apreciated.

Cheers guys.

I'm assuming the seats are heated, they're the same style as the ones removed. Will be slightly peeved if it's had newer but inferior seats fitted...

It's a "K" plate not sure if that makes any difference.

Cheers guys.

Arse...

Nex question  is gonna have to be can i fit the heater element from the old seats into these seats? Might even get a couple out of a senny at my local scrappy, assuming they fit.

Cheers again,
Andy

Theres a post on here from jonnybear regarding fitting to cloth seats, think it might be ok but not sure on half leathers. Best to get the pads from cloth ones I thing as stitched into leather.

Yea whippit is right, the the leather seat elements are stitched in Undecided and the cloth seat have a different layout, althought not stiched in they are glued to the foam seat, and once the CLOTH seat cover is removed the cloth will not be seated proparly again. so wot you should do (if your reall desperate for a arse warming Tongue) and is probably the easyest to do athought the rarest is to get a known good gsi seat cover with working heaters and swapthe seat covers thats what i is going to do with my seats, or it is possible to find the broken part of the element and resolder it ?? dont quote me on tha htought Tongue

Broken part of the element is usually, note I said usually at the back of the seat before it goes to the upright. It has been repaired succesfully by members of ABS. I remember reading about it a while ago. Means seat out whatever you do, at least you should be able to do the work in comfort rather than in the car on a cold dark winters evening.

MMM hassle free yes after doing some work, spent over a year solid every weekend and spare time after work replacing, repairing, cleaning, and even then the new parts themselves proved to be just as bad as the ones replaced Huh every time a left the garage for a joy ride something went wrong. But now touch wood after all the time and lots and lots of pounds spent its perfick!!!!!!!

My seats are black Arizona heated, with the red and blue line, facelift model.

K plate makes know difference, i believe the aircon and heated seats were an optional extra and not standard spec on the gsi.

I think my seats are the same, half leather with the red and blue stripe? I don't whether it's worth the hassle to sort them... same goes for the aircon. I really hope this car isn't doesn't become a money pit.

Anywho. Cheers for help guys.

My seats are heated as standard along with the air con. Dont know how difficult it would be to modify the seat etc? I would only replace the heater elements if i was going to have the seats recovered.

Does your car have the switches in place to power the heated seats? if so try to find another set of seats for sale with all the necessary wiring in place.

Money pit yes, unless the previous owner has been meticulous in servicing and replacing parts. if not start saving Wink

It's got the switches in the dash, the old seats were heated but the previous owner changed the seats for some almost new black half leather ones which explains why no heating. Because the seats are almost new i'm loathed to change them again. Can't make my bloody mind up now... Might just wait and see if those little switches on the dash bother me as much as the non workling Air con one does.

Ho hum.

Cheers again.

If it was down to me, I would

Buy some seats from scrappy with bum warmers...doesn't matter if they're leather or cloth
Strip bum warmers from seats....if it means unstitching, so be it.
If they work, fine, if not
Inspect for damage and repair if necessary
Test before fitting
Refit to present seats.

It's not hard to strip a seat, but bear in mind that there's some awkward clips that can break - make sure you find them all first, so you know where they are and be careful.
There's also some little plastic pins that are hard to see, but again, take your time and stripping the scrap seats will give you the experience to do the refitting.

Bear in mind that it's a good opportunity to thoroughly clean and re-lube the frames and plastics when they're off too! You can paint the plastics should you want as well.

When I fitted my Ferarri seats, I used the Carlton bases and surrounding plastics, which were shaped around the seats, thoroughly cleaned, primed with plastic primer and painted black with matt black from a rattle can. If I could, I'd take pics........

would it not just be easy to buy a nice set of seats that you like with the heaters alredy in them and fit them , as all you have to do is connect the plugs up .

Talking to whippet today and he tells me senny interior fits quite snuggly in a carlton , so if you want a nice interior just replace with black leather from a senny which has heated front seats .

Yeah, but Senator seats don't have the bolsters like GSi (or Diamond, for that matter) seats, John.

The elements will be right though, and I think the cushions might be the same - which means that you wouldn't have to rip out the elements, just fit the cushions as a whole, adding the GSi bolsters and then recovering.
