So it's been seized for a while then.........

DO NOT

- Yank on the lever arm - you will break it and then the seat height adjuster is irrepairable

So

Undo the seat and remove it from the car (4 allen bolts)

Turn upside down on a suitable surface to protect the seat

Get plastic bag and section to prevent oil/wd40 from sinking into the seat foam and fabric

Lubricate every moving (or in this case non moving) lever fulcrum and pin with wd40 or similar light oil

Leave to stand to let it do it's work

Invert the seat and place in a stable base surface

IMPORTANT - when adjusting seat height the system needs a body on the seat to act as a counterbalance - never attempt to raise or lower a seat without sitting in it

Sit on seat and gently try to work the lever - do not be agressive with it the mechanism has to be freed off gently or you will snap the lever arm

DO NOT

- Use stilsons/mole grips on the shaft that runs under the seat - it's hollow!!!!

If it doesn't move when you first try it leave it the right way up so the oil can go the other way.

If all this effort still fails then it's new seat base time - plenty about so no worries but I've only had it not work once.

Thanks for that mr bc  Smiley
I'll have a go , just did not want to go to the trouble of removing the seat if its not fixable without having a spare to replace it with.

 WD40 it is then

To replace the height adjuster unit is simple if it does all go pear shaped

Remove seat from car

Remove plastic trims from sides

Sit on front edge of the seat

this should pop the material edge out of the seat frame

Lift up squab and cover

Four bolts hold seat onto the height adjuster

Easy peasy  Grin

Says you, tried this and them four bolts were solid as well, looks as though they had been hit with a hammer by the previous muppet. Incidentally the latest muppet (me) tried the stilsons trick on the crossbar and guess what its hollow and crushes.

Before you take the seat out......mine was exactly the same......spray the lever point...where it goes onto the actual seat....with WD40....i spent ages spraying the bars underneath to discover it was the lever part that was the problem....i sprayed a lot of WD40 and very carefully used the lever and worked it back and forward and it eventually freed itself!!!

Worth a try before you go taking the seat out.

I'd already taken the lever and external assembly off thinking it was that, definately the riser part of the mechanism that is at fault. Luckily I have a donor car but wrong colour seats.

So swap the height adjusters not the seats
