Is that Shanless or Shameless Wink
10 out of 10 for improvisation...............though it would have been better if you had disconnected the ABS light and bridged the engine management light across, then they would both have come on and off as intended LOL

I had a problem with the ABS light staying on...and I needed the car MOT'D.....I removed the diggy dash....removed the ABS bulb and cut the ''plastic panel'' thats along the bottom of the speedo panel and swapped the ABS and ENGINE MANAGEMENT logos around so when I turned the car on it looked like the ABS light was on...and when I started the car it went out.....when in fact it was the ENGINE MANAGEMENT bulb

Thats a terrible thing to do!!!!!!!!!1

At least with the tape over the light you can tell.
Seen one with a hole drilled in the dash to break the bulb.

I only needed the car through mot so that I could take the reg plate off it....the car was then broke for parts...I wouldnt sell it on if I knew that the ABS wasnt working and that it could cause injury...I have a nice 3.0l Diamond Estate with Lotus rims and bodykit fitted...I will post pics asap...

Just my tuppence worth on this old thread for any new passers by.

If you get this...

1) Fire up engine - abs light illuminates then goes out
2) Engine runs (car standing still) for about 10 seconds
3) ABS light comes back on

Then it may be a simple case of a dodgy connection UNDER the ABS relays under the bonnet.

Case in point - I have 2x 1993 Carltons - BAY and HUG. HUG had no issues with ABS, BAY had an intermittent ABS light issue as points 1-3 above.

Swapped 3x relays over on the cars. HUG still good - and also BAY good for a while before playing up again.

pulled 3x relays out from BAY again (which were originally in HUG) - cleaned and tightened/crimped all cabling to relay connectors - replaced relays - been running for a week now with no issue - ABS light comes on, goes out and stays out.

Moral of story is try the above before replacing sensors, computers and pump as in my opinion is cost free and a hopeful quick fix.
