You dont seem to have a topic that covers alloy wheels but I guess this is the nearest. Grin

I would like to put some 18" alloys on my Senator but cannot find anything on ebay. Would like some second hand ones under £250 if possible.

What are the details of the Senator wheels, IE PCD and stud pattern?  What other car manufacturers use the same pattern?  Would BMW wheels fit?

Thanks for looking. Smiley

All that Info is availiable on the forum but has probably become a little buried.

I'm sure you can find it if you use the search function though.

Carltons and Senators are 5x110 ET35(? ish anyway)

BMW are 5x120, so wont fit without adaptors, which would probably cost as much as your total budget!

Most 5 stud vauxhall stuff that comes up with be for FWD vauxhall stuff, but you can rectify that with some spacers. However again this is more expense.

Later Saab 5-stud models also fit. Saw some ace 18" by quite wide saab rims go for not a lot on ebay.

Just have to keep searching! they do come up every now and again!

Mark

P.s. if you are feeling brave you can try some 'Vari-bolts' that allow you to fit wheels from PCDs ranging from 1-2mm either side of your PCD (eg 5x108 to 5x112) This opens you up to Mercedes rims (loads of cheap 18s there) and Audi rims just for starters. However, depending on who you speak to Varibolts are either "Deathtraps" or perfectly fine! You will have to make your own mind up though!

Ehmm, don't go now, after dressing as a hooker, walking around my local town (did get a chat up though!!!! but he was a he) and popping in to the local carry out for some refreshments. Then drove around in my car waving to strangers...........my wife was far from happy. Stretched her dress apparently (photos are hidden).

Was a few years back and people still talk about it, and my Stag Night, the day I got married (oh boy, the Minister was confused) and the night I hired the Elvis costum and almost got lifted for playing a burst inflatable guitar in the middle of the road as bag pipes to the local policemen............yup, people think I am unstable.

Apart from that, the rest you don't want to know.............

Trying to calm down now.

Are they yours?  I did not know Vectra wheels would fit. Do spacers not make the car feel a little unstable?

Thanks for everyones help. I will keep on looking with a wider search criteria now.

not mine no, just did a quick search.

5 stud vectra ones should fit, standard ones do, but the offset is wrong. its around ET49 (or should be, those are aftermarket so could be anything!) and Carltons are ET35 or 33 ish.

Spacers shouldnt make it feel any less stable, it will just effectively change the offset of the wheel back. ie you'd need about 15mm spacers for those. But @ 15mm you probably wont get away with what are effectively shims and longer wheel bolts.

I have Calibra Turbo rims on the front of my carlton and they did look a tad silly before I got the spacers fitter. But I went for silly spacers because Im like that  Lips Sealed

I did hear somewhere that spacers knock the wheel bearings out a bit quicker.

Think you are right Tetlysmooth....

Takes the Center line out of the Vertical plane and puts more of a down ward force onto them. Bit like a lever effect. Destroys them in effect.

Can any one else confirm?

they WILL NOT bugger the wheel bearings because all you are doing is correcting the king pin inclination (kpi) however if you put them behind the standard wheels they WILL as the wheels are then sitting outside the kpi

I was speaking about spacers with standard wheels but did not make this clear. Sorry.

The Carlton's PCD is 5x110 - I dont know if wobble bolts will do the job as they're generally intended to sort out a 1-2 mm difference in PCD and you're looking at a 4mm difference.

The offset looks good though!  Undecided

I don't think "wobble bolts" would be able to cope with 4mm difference.

Oh, and there's summat else to look out for - centre hole diameter! Wink
