Well this morning i took a little trip down to Ashford to pick up my new interior Smiley

The donor car: a very sorry looking 3 litre 24v diamond estate Tongue

Apparentley it was owned by some rich bloke who couldnt be bothered to fix it when it broke down and left it to rot Sad  Shame really because the bodywork is really quite good, arches and sills all solid, but sadly the roof, windscreen and bonnet are badly damaged from being picked up by one of those grab cranes Lips Sealed

Still their loss is my gain! Grin

Nice leather interior Cool well it will be after a good clean, only very slight wear on the drivers bolster but the rest is in good nick Smiley

Well i wouldve just had the seats and doorcards on theyre own but as the diamond trim is black and mine is grey i decided to have the whole lot, was cheap enough after all Wink

so i spent the rest of the day stripping it down, started at 11 and finished at just after 4, as you can see i took pretty much everything Grin

Managed to squeeze it in the estate and brought it back, am gonna get my mum to give it all a clean (hopefully tomorrow) and start to put it in next week, gonna leave the dash for now though as it was a right mission to get out Tongue

Have nabbed quite a few parts off that estate so stay tuned for more updates Grin

I think my mate in Lincoln has got a full interior, he seems to have just about everything else.  Might ask him if he's still got it!

How much did you get the interior for? I knew it was up there and when I last spoke to him he wanted about £250 for it.

I got it for half that plus some other bits thrown in (wiper motor, side skirts and some other stuff) TBH if it had been left any longer it wouldve been bin fodder as the interior was getting mildew from being damp all the time Tongue

Bit of advice, Mr. Barge.

Now would be a good time to wrap the seats with newspape. The newspaper will draw moisture from the leather. Could take three or four days, but you might be surprised at the amount of moisture that leather can hold!
Then, get some Gliptone leather cleaner and follow the istructions, and it will bring them up almost like new (judging your pics, anyway).

Then fit them!

Oh - one other thing to look out if the front seats are heated.
Thoroughly check the wiring between the seat base and the seat back - it sometimes get caught up in the reclining mechanism (well, it does on Calibras, Cavaliers and V*ctras), so now would be a good time to repair and find another route for the wiring! Wink

And another thing - you jammy **** Grin Grin Grin

Cheers for the advice, do i need to replace the newspaper every so often? the interior is laid out in the garage at the moment drying out, my mum is not gonna be able to clean and feed it til next weekend now, and we all know that mother knows best! Grin

That explains why mine doesn't work then!

Such a shame to see another 24v diamond die. What a waste. At least it's going to a good home, and i dont know of any other 12v estates left.

That diamond interior is great.

The better it's wrapped, the more moisture you're likely to get out - the leather will naturally "sweat", thereby bringing out the excess moisture.

Should only need two or three days, mate.

They will definitely need a clean and feed or they could crack pretty soon, and Gliptone is considered one of the best leather care manufacturers on the market.

Might be an idea to grab that little wood-effect lump of plastic from under the radio - they seem to be in demand!

Its taken long enough but finallly i managed to get my new interior in, well 95% of it anyway Grin

Started early, Saturday, i worked from back to front, starting with the boot.  While i was doing this my mum cleaned the seats and carpets, so big respect to my mum! Grin

Back stripped

Coor cards, old and new

Seats out and down to bare bones, the old interior was an absolute mess, nothing was worth saving so had no worries about binning it Wink

Guess my luck was in, found the wires for the heated seats under the carpets, although at first when i removed the blanking covers from the dash i found no plugs Undecided  so i did a search on here and found out the non aircon models had the heated seat switches where the aircon switches were, so i popped off the blanks and there they were! Grin

Seats going in: rear seat

Carpets and trim

Front seats and console, the heated seats work too, really cool having your bum warmed in the morning Cheesy

The finished article

Well almost, still got the dash to put in (aint got the balls to do it on my own) and the passenger front doorcard, but ive gotta replace the front speakers anyway.  Ive got new ones but they dont fit, so ive grabbed a bit of mdf from work, thick enough so i can make new spacer rings for them to fit Smiley

Coming soon, new speakers, lower the back end, other bits and bobs and a wash Smiley
