Go to any track day U should be allowed to drift at them... we go every 2nd weekend... Cost Us £40entry fee, £60 petrol, for a whole day...
U usually go through 2 to 6 sets of tyres depending on how dry it is... ;p

i can get a 2.0 to drift... Grin

enter a roundabout in 2nd quite slowly...stamp on and off  the clutch while accelerating and turn to the left, and use clutch and throttle to hold the slide...takes some practice...and DONT do it on a saturday afternoon when its busy... Grin

my mates got a vid off the phone, so ill try and post it...

i can get the arse to come out for a while but cant hold it out! in the wet a can hold a drift! i enter a corner quite fast turn in and kick the clutch and off we go! keep kickin the clutch if i need to. in the wet i have to hold the slide with the throttle and slightly with the steering. i went for a blast up cheddar gorge and back down last night. entered one corner at 60 in 3rd and kicked the clutch and it went ok. was a lot of fun! still cant hold a big drift in the dry! i try every day. i have a video on my phone of me in the wet!

i went out in a ford verte 4.0 straight 6 with LSD last night! that was good! loads and loads of torque and quicker than a GSi 24v!

There is alot to drifting... Takes quite a while to get it rite...
I cut My teeth in a silver 12v... first ever RWD... Was 16 at the time...
Strated doing donuts... LOTS of them... Gradually I wanted to do bigger donuts so found big empty road junctions...... then wanted more speed... so Found corners... Started them slowly then gardually got faster...
The 12V was lathal in the wet... 3rd gear flicks no prob But in the dry struggled with 2nd...
So I then discovered U could get 12V more valves... So I gatheted up some more ££ then bought a nice red 93 24v...
That was the 1st one I had on a track (kirkistown) Was unreall.... 2d gear limiter in bone dry with 17s on... 60mph drift...
Then started doing more and more track days... They didnt allow Full on kamikazi driving thought...
Then the Irish D1 Drift series started... Thats when things got good...
All the red necks in their Twin cam sierras, Corolla Gt Coupes, S13s, S14s, M3, M5s, Skylines etc... Came out to play...
as the years went By The series got better... I start to get more crazy in the driving style...
Now we have track days run by www.sideways-racing.co.uk... theses are Unbeliavable...
No rules appaly drifting...
The track is massive and U can get 120 down the straight then Shift lock in 3rd @120 ficking the car letf then right into corners... its absolutely mad!!!

Now I have descent power... and 1 of the best handling sideways cars u can buy ist all good...

That car has cost me alot less than £1000 and on track is fit to pass Gts skylines with ease Grin

So get drifting... terrorise ure locas road Junctions.... ohhh roundabouts are lethal too...

i think a smaller tyre wall would be better for drifting as there is less roll in the tyre wall. my rear tyres are wearing the tyre walls out! cant read the writing on them very well any more

That was a quite bad 3rd gear off... I laughed alot... U need the 50 or 55 series tyres... big ones no good they  Blow off the rim too easily...

have put lower profile tyres on back of the mrk 2 when i lowerd it for the same reason found tyres seemed to be folding under when cornering at high speed Shocked Grin is a lot different now only thing is it doesnt seem to let go as easy in the dry anymore Cry Cry

my old astra 1.4 with standard wheels size over read by 9mph @30 and 17mph@115! that was with dials from a 1.8. with standard dials it was 3mph@30 and 10mph@100 when i timed 0-60 i had to do 0-70!

Yeah the vauxhall clocks can be a bit wonky...
Some of the speeds Ive seen them read they have to be lying...
I wouldnt even trust the "calibrated" ones that much either Cuz My last Ex plod MV6 omega went off the clock and I didnt think they were even geared to do that..
