I hope to find one, but not at the exagerated prices they seem to be fetching currently!

They're not as plentiful as they used to be, so I can't see the prices dropping much for a good 'un.
If you buy a cheapie, expect to do some spanner work.

is there much difference between a manual and automatic GSi3000 24v btw?

i did have a cossie, and the GSi is going to be a bit of a stop gap and something to tool around in while next winter til i can afford another cossie, but i want it to be quick!

Some of us on here prefer the 12 valve as it seems to be more reliable, the later ones had big valve heads and solid rail fuel injection, the earlier ones tend to leak from the rubber injection pipes.
The 24 valve has got about 30 odd horsepower more, but has been known to snap a timing chain.
Auto or manual? It's all down to personal preferance really. I prefer auto's because I drive a truck for 12 hours overnight, so it's nice just to use two pedals after I finish work.
Have a trawl through the old posts on here. If I remember correctly, there's plenty of 'which one is better' topics
How about an ex police 24 valve manual Senator. They're fun.

How about this? You'd probably get most of the parts needed on this site.
12 valve it may be, but also a manual. Taxed and tested until November.

Well, I've got to be honest, I've had 24 valves, auto and manual and I don't think there's too much difference between them and 12 valves, which my wife drives at the moment. Others are bound to come along with thier opinions, so don't take my word for it.
A few years back, I had a 12 valve Carlton estate and my wife had a 24 valve Senator, both autos.
We had a bit of a race one night and my Carlton kept up with her Senator.

I have an ex-Police manual 24v Senator which could be for sale if your interested?

MOT till end March 2007.
Tax till end September.
145k (7k on reconditioned head)
Bodywork still solid, just need paint sorting (resprayed badfly in the past)
Good tyres.
Black leather interior - in goood condition too!
Electric window conversion (Police cars had wind up windows!!)

Could do with a service, i've one or 2 new parts ready to fit.  Was going to do them this month when my Carlton Hybrid goes on the road.  Not bothered if it sells or not, but space in my garage is tight & i need to start work on my Monza's!!

Make me an offer!!  I use it less & less these days, shame to waste the MOT!!
