In case anyone is thinking about fitting a Lotus style bodykit to their trusty steed - beware of cheapo kits by the likes of Bad boys Bodystyling, as they're total tosh, and it might even be cheaper to buy genuine Lotus parts, as a body shop would take many hours to get it to fit - before prep and paint.

My thoughts, anyway!

Lotus didn't actually make the kit - I know of a firm in Dereham (near Lotus) that made alot of parts.

To be honest, the wheelarches on my car were from BTB Exhausts, and according to my father in law (he fitted the kits at Lotus), are better than Lotus.

I've heard that LC/LO rear wheelarches rust faster than "lesser" Carltons and Omegas - never thought that was possible!!!!!

See where you're at with the low-key rear spoiler idea. I thought of that myself, but it looked soooooo wrong to me. Having the deep Lotus front, the rear looked out of proportion (to me, anyway) kind of unbalanced, then my missis saw the Evo 6 job on ebay....................still not 100% about it, but don't tell her I said so! Wink

Thing is, if YOU like it, go for it! I certainly wouldn't slag it off, cos I know exactly how much work you're gonna do to get the kit to fit!

a lot of peeps moan about many LC bodykits were fibreglass. But the real deal stuff is like marine-grade fibreglass and is very strong, its the cheapo kits that use an inferior grade.

Believe me, John, the Lotus stuff ain't that good. I knew alot of guys at The Dove Company in Dereham, Norfolk, that made the fibreglass bits, and my father in law fitted them at Lotus............... Cheesy

Apart from my wheelarch eyebrows, my kit is genuine Lotus. The eyebrows came from BTB Exhausts, and are far better quality than the Lotus items ever were! Shocked

Having said that, the cheapo imitations that I've seen are crap! Grin

Mine are rock hard! I could go around attacking OAP's with the wheel arches!

Must have been a rare set of good 'uns! LOL!

It's just that my f-in-law always swore about the Lotus stuff, saying that it could have been better made 'in-house', rather than have it all contracted out.

How nice........... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

FFS if you haven't got anything constructive to say please go away, everyone knows that I am speaking metaphorically. I wouldn't actually go around attacking OAP's, I was putting across the idea that my wheel arches are very tough and solid.

Only at you, because YOU provoke it, simple as. Like I said I know your type as there is always at least one on a web forum.

I challanged you to race me ON A RACE TRACK, where it isn't illegal or even wrong in any way. If you think my ideas are stupid or unfounded then why not put my ideas to the test. I am more than willing to do so because I am confident in my work.

No one else thinks my ideas are stupid, even if they do its usually something dignified like 'I think its not going to work very well, fair play tho'. This is cool, thats his/her opinion. But when you coming along slating it then THAT is when you disrespect me.

I don't know why i am even typing this, I know your type and you will plainly ignore me thinking you know best.
