My name is Chris, and I'm a carlton fanatic fancier...
Seriously, my loved one is completely nuts about her Carlton - it's the one thing she loves more than me. Not that I'm jealous, really...
Unfortunately I know nufink about cars, since I am a non-driver, but I was kinda hoping that you kind folks could help me out so I can get her something special for her Carlton, just to show her how much I care about her and her interests. She thinks I don't appreciate her interests...
The problem with that is that I don't even know where to begin...

Unfortunately, I don't know too much about the car - I may have to try and sneak some answer out of by partner, because I don't want her to know what I'm planning. What sort of information would you need? I know it is an estate - she says she loves the boot space for all her shopping and toolboxes. I think it's a 3 litre - she originally had a 2 litre, but brought the same car with a 3 litre engine. I was a bit bemused at this - something which sort of got me put in the dog house for a while. She's recently sold the 2 litre though. Oh, and it's burgandy... Beyond that - all I really know is that it's a car... I feel like such a girl now... http://www.b3ta.com/board/5597397 (No offence meant... )

Its probably either a 3.0 CDX or a Diamond which can usually be told apart by the wheels - CDX are cross-spoked and the Diamond have Six straight spokes.
The Diamond estates were availiable with leather seats as an option too.
The third possibility is a Voyager - half leather interior and wheels the same as the GSI 3000.
Of course the wheels/interior could have been changed but its a good place to start.

What are you planning? I just want to buy her something for the car, off my own back, without being told, just to show her that I do take an interest in her and her hobbies. She likes her carlton, and she thinks I hate her carlton, and I am trying to show her otherwise. However, I don't know where to begin - I'm thinking of something to do with bodywork styling, because I have the feeling that she has very clear plans with the mysterious innards of her car. She did mention something about brakes as well, but I don't really want to get involved there until I know a little bit more about that. Essentially though, I'm trying to ask what you'd like if someone was to buy you a present for your latest carlton project, just to get some ideas, so I can try and surprise her with my thoughtfulness. Even if the surpise fails, it's the thought that counts, right? Its probably either a 3.0 CDX or a Diamond which can usually be told apart by the wheels - CDX are cross-spoked and the Diamond have Six straight spokes. That's useful knowledge - I think that unless the wheels have been changed, its a Diamond, because of the six spokes.

Haven't really decided on that just yet. I'd like to get value for money, even though I don't have much idea how much things are worth for the carlton. Depending upon the item(s), somehwere within the region of £100 - £200, possibly more.

I'd forgotten they did an estate one - that'd be perfect for the cause! BTW I reckon a saloon one would look good if fitted carefully.

Already got the fluffly dice... a nice bright pink pair. I also got her a set of fluffy pink seat covers she wanted... or at least she said she wanted. I thought it'd be a good Christmas present... turns out she was only joking... D' oh! I did see the thread advertising the imscher tinted rear lights...

I did see the thread advertising the imscher tinted rear lights... Those are for a saloon, I think they did some for the estate but rare a rocking horse poo. They did mention saloon - I was wondering if they would fit the estate model as well, or whether the lights were different. I suppose this answers that question for me... I'll keep an eye out - it seems Imscher is the brandname of choice around here...
