Hard to see, but is that a Haze Blue example. Get the rear bumper off and check the lower wings and valance, I didn't look at mine until later. all shot to hell ........... Gah

Nice looking though,

Hi Jon,

No mate its the grey.....i never noticed before but you are right there is a kind of blue tinge to the picture!

The car is really solid....pleasantly surprised! haven't had the bumper off but i have been underneath the back end...the bottom of the valance is all good so thats a start!
Even the arches only have surface rust and its just starting!! will get them rubbed down and treated in the next week or so!
Inner wings are mint....not even a slight scabbing!! and if its been welded its been a perfect job!! but on visual inspection there aint no plates in there!!

think i have been really quite lucky with this one...it all worked nicely as well....as if it was meant to be!!..........
I had my mate Birdy's(some ABS members will know him)GSE up here to do some work on it for him...he was struggling to find time to get back up to collect it from his home in Rochdale....so when this Carlton came up 20 miles from him it was perfect...i drove Birdy's Monza back down to him and then headed to get the Carlton to come back home!!
All worked out to a tee! Birdy was happy to get his car delivered 235 miles for the cost of the fuel,no expense to get up hear and sat drinking tea til his car arrived!! and i got down there to bring the car home!! was a long day and was tired by the end of it(set out from Glasgow at 4am!!) and arrived home about 4:45pm! but all worked out well!

I was sure you offered me a Monza on the onlyopels website, but it was too far for me to collect from Scotland.
Sorry mate, there must be two of you with the same name from Scotland.
My mistake.

Aye can understand that...distance is a big problem....can double the price of the car!

I was interested in buying Matt's silver Senator, but the cost home would have made the car over a grand,by the time i got there and home, plus fitted a towbar. I was heading to Manchester with a Monza and the Carlton came up at the same time...one of those right place right time things!!

I went for the Carlton because it was an estate, had a tow bar fitted....i want the car to tow a trailer with a car on it,and the boot of the estate means i can fill it full of junk!!
The Senator looked really nice too,so i would have ended up liking it too much and i wouldn't have wanted to use it to work it!!

The Carlton cost me £300 pound plus £40 fuel home...K plate CDX 2.6 Dual Ram for £340
with nearly a years MOT and 2 months Tax
It made sense to go for the Carlton....i think you would have to be stupid to pass that up!
Plus it meant i had the best part of £500 left over!!! was a good night out as well!! Grin

500 quid for a night out  Shocked Where do you go, Spearmint Rhino?
You haven't gone far wrong getting the Carlton, and joining the forum is a bonus  Smiley
My 2.6 Dippy goes on the road on Monday.
I can park up the BMW 730i I've been using and do some much required work to it. It was my wife's, but she nicked my Senator a fortnight ago.

I don't think you'll upset anyone here by doing that.
There's been a few people here thinking of doing the same thing.
Those hybrids look good.

I'm thinking of doing it myself being how my Hybrid front end is already bent, might as well replace bent slam panel with straight Senator one & the bonnet/wings etc that go with them!!

If you were going to make a Senator estate out of a Carlton then converting the rear arches needs to be done otherwise it's always going to be a Carlton Estate with a Senator front end!

On my walk back from the pub i was thinking of a new name badge for my Hybrid Carlton.  It's goping to be a "OMEGATOR"!!!!  The main reason for this name instead of "CARLTONATOR" is that the Opel Omega A badges i have spare are the same font as the Senator badges, whereas the Carlton badges currently on the car are different & therefore wont match when joined to each other. (i presume this is because the Carlton name was a UK only thing & the badges were made by a different company??)

I intend on turning my estate into a Senator estate in the future. Ideally id like to find a senator in the same colour, with good colour match and no rot on the front end... Il keep dreaming
