On ebay they are selling condensors for £119 for the Carlton. Most cars seem to be around this price.

I've just remembered something.

R12 to R134a conversions often benefit from more cooling offered by a parallel flow condensor which are a special deign designed to offer lower pressures and more cooling which, for the fortnight my retrofitted diplomat 2.6 actually worked, would have been beneficial. You buy one to fit the space and have the pipework specially made to fit with R134a barrier hose. This option is prefered in the states but is not cheaper. I remember reading an article about a retrofit xjs that was much cooler with the parallel flow. I've bought one from my local supplier. The seller on ebay is a bit dear given that he has so many and most people can't be bothered with AC in old cars as it a constant drain on the wallet. I saw one on ebay 2 years ago for £15!

The compressor seals went on mine and I found a brand new compressor on ebay for £50 with R134a seals. I found a new accumulator at Billing 2 years ago for £5. I am going to do the rebuild after I put mine back on the road and wait for a good weather report. If it is only going to work for another fortnight, it might as well be when it is hot!
