hi folks , need some help .

The heater controle switch on the dash board is playing up and now only works when it wants to , the problem is that some of the connections and circuit has been burnt . I want to know can you replace the switch without replacing the whole unit , vauxhall have quoted me over £300 pound to do the job .

This is too steep and i cannot afford it , seeing that the car is only worth six hundred . Can you replace just the switch or do i need to replace the whole unit . I dont fancy messing around with all those pullies and wires .Its to trickyy for my basic knowledge.

please help , ive had no joy on Vx club .

It's actually not that bad replacing the unit. I think I have a couple of spares. I'll have a look see and check back with you. I'll have a look at the switch and see how easy it is to take from the unit. But IMHO you would be better off replacing the unit. I'll get back to you.

You have to remove the unit to detach the switch anyway wouldnt you?  Changing the whole unit isnt that bad to be honest - I put doing mine off for ages cos I thought it looked like a 'mare, and did it in about 20 mins.

You can do it mate, no problem!

Not that bad a job, but can get a little tight cos of the cable length. Just be patient with it and don't try and force owt!.

It is well documented in the HJB, to be fair, with decent pics to show you how.

Have a go mate, it'll give you a good sense of satisfaction when you've done it and it works!! Wink
