Just bought a pre-facelift Opel Omega A (off ebay - where else!! - heres a link to the original post:

http://totalcarlton.com/forums/index.php?topic=2138.0 ).

It's LHD, 2.0 injection & appears to be a CD spec although it is different from the UK ones.  Haven't a clue what year it is, it was originally German registered but in Germany the plates stay with the owner so he has kept them!  Have only really bought it for a few bits & pieces but thought i'd put the details in here so people could see!

Picked it up on a trailer yesterday.  Was going to drive it back on my mates German plates but i had already hired a trailer to deliver & fetch other cars so i made the most of the trailer hire charge!

Interior is a mess, hasn't been cleaned in what looks like months!!  Rear arches & sills rotten, rear offside door badly dented & windscreen badly cracked.  Other 3 doors appear to be in excellent condition though so anyone who needs doors then they may be available!  Has velour seats, wind up windows & sunroof but strangely has a trip computer - in German!!  Cracking 2.0 engine, seller reckoned it was a re-con as he said that this car was originally a diesel!!  Not sure i believe him on that one but the engine does seem to run well!  It does look like somethings being going on though as it has the earlier radiator with pressure cap & a header tank which has been disconnected!  Has got x-spoke alloys (extremely filthy ones at that!) but they're slightly different to normal Carlton & Senator ones, they's got some strange "Winter" tyres on which have all got loads of tread on - just a shame they're all remoulds!!

Anyway, Here are some pics.....

Anyone needing bits off this then give me a shout.  I'm keeping the bonnet, the manual window winders & doorcards, the opel badges & possibly the diff when i've worked out what ratio it is!!

Enjoy!!!

Unless Im very much mistaken, thats an SE engine which would match the pre-facelift bumpers. The better of the 8Valvers IMHO.  That puts it pre 1991 anyway.
Bonus if its a good one!  Smiley

You could but the avaerage speed would be in kms & the fuel consumption in litres per 100km!!!  Unless there's a way of converting them to read in imperial units??

More than likely but i'm not sure if i'm keeping that myself yet!!!  (got a spare GSi spoiler too!)

It also has a cat fitted - i don't think the UK pre-facelifts ever had cats did they??  Must be something to do with German regs!!

I'll have another look to see how good it is.  I think it's coming away from the bootlid in places but not sure if it's broken or not!!

I'd hang on to the wheels Craig, they look like rare beasts.
Nice deep dish - I like 'em.
What sort of viscous fan has that got mate?
Allen key fit or large nut on the back?

Are they not the BBS version of the cross spokes, if so they are pretty rare I think. I'm sure IM will confirm exactly what they are.

The wheels aren't going anywhere for the time being as i've run out of scrap steel wheels to replace them!  When i've worn the Hybrids tyres out, then these wheels will be going on that, but hopefully in a cleaner state than they are now!!  They're actually quite straight, just very very dirty & possibly slightly corroded in places.

Regarding the fan, i haven't a clue!  I will look at the weekend & see!  At a guess though it'll be the earlier type, it is a pre-facelift after all!!

Wish i knew what year it was made!!

The good doors will be for sale, once i've removed the manual window winders.  I've checked round the inner edges & have yet to find any rot on them.  There is a couple of very small scabs on the outer edge of one door, not a problem as i doubt if your mates car will be this colour!!

I haven't noticed any Carltons this colour before, has anyone else?? (will check out the paint code tomorrow after work!!)
