OK,

I have 2 I never use now. The 'E' i have had 8 years and has had a lot of work done. The other I bought off e-bay and had additional mods - eg full Gmax springs, engine work, straight through s/s exhaust etc. Thing is, the 12V motors have fallen from grace. Both need body work done. Do i keep one to save the other or get rid of both? Worth more whole, or in bits. My drive is more than full now and have to get down to 1 car, therefore a decision soon as due to failing health (only 35) and nagging wife.

Any thoughts would be welcome.

Regards

Carltonman.

Make the best out of two id say. Pick the one with the best bodywork i reckon.

Gotta disagree about the 12 valve falling from grace. I prefer them anytime.
24 valves are more popular I suppose, but in standard form only about 30-ish hp more than the 12 valve (someone will come along and tell me I'm talking bollox), and the 12 valve is so much stronger.
If I hadn't just got this 2.6 Dippy, I'd be after one of your cars.

i dont want power. all iwanted was a car that took me back and forwrd to work. The body work has started to let go and to the extent that is it worth it. oor much salt on the roads up here for the Carlton. Rot them to hellTht means in total i have 3 12V engines & manual gear boxes. Umpteen alloys and all the rest if I break. Have gone back to simpler vauvhalls. Still too much of a question.

Definately make a good one out of the 2.  A good weekends work will strip the weaker one, then you have a shed load of spares to keep the remaining one going!  I always try to get a complete car for spares, especially on cars like ours which are becoming all too scarce in the scrapyards.  I bought a 24v Senator for spares last august, i'm still getting some use out of the bits that are left on it 8 months later!!

Thing is, already had a spares car about 5 years ago, and still have a shed full of spares. Too many cars, soo little time!

You are not talking bollox at all - in actual fact a late Senator 12V cat equiped (easily identified by the Gold rocker and solid fuel rail) will get very close to 200 bhp when de-catted and I know this cos my 24V couldn't get near one untill it topped out at around 140 mph!!!!

12V engines bulletproof and very torquey - cheap R&T cam and a few mods will see the bhp over 200........

24V's not so bulletproof but can be improved bhp wise a bit more than the 12V
