When I replaced the door cards with the diamond ones I found the original? speakers held in with black tape. I was always going to get new speakers, but maybe not as soon as this.
I really don't have clue about all the good shit that you guys are talking about!!!

So my questions are:-
What is the right size for direct replacements?
What sort of speakers should I get
How much power?

I currently run a Sony MD and listen to a lot of Tamla Motown (I know.....Old Git) but I like it

I don't have it loud, well not ear bleeding anyway. Oh yeah and it's in an estate, so a base install is out, I need to keep the load space.

I need to replace the rear speakers as well, so need advice on them as well. Do I need to do anything in the tailgate to help the sound.
By the way I'm not talking amps or anything, although after reading through previous posts it might be a good idea to do all that, sooooo advice please.

Cheers Guys

tbh i think your stereo should be 4x50w which should be a healthy power output if ya not interested mega bass etc

i would just see about replacing the speakers all round with some half decent priced replacements i found the standard set up pretty good in my car so the speakers are pretty well situated (in my saloon anyways)

with speakers i tend to go for either Clarion or Pioneer personally but i'm sure others will reccomend some other brands

soz dont know sizes as mine have all been replaced with different sized 1's anyways

jon the easy way to tell what the right size speaker is is to measure across the opposite screw holes and go for some of the same as for bass you can have a kind of install if you are willing to lose the side pods for the first aid kit and  the storage opposite you should be able to get a small amp and an 8" sub (amp in one side sub in the other)then in the tailgate you could get two 6x9"s (bit of cutting involved) and just replace the door speakers with standard size ones but use a good quality set and if you go for the sub option get an expensive fitting kit as they lose less signal.

Decisions, decisions, thanks for the info guys, plenty of options.
TBH I don't really want to fit an amp and subs, I have a load liner in place anyway, but I'm not ruling it out completely!

I will do the measuring when I get back home.
IIRC the Sony head unit is 4 x 50 anyway, it's the Explode model with MD slot.

I would deffo need new tailgate struts (beefed up) if I was going for the big install Shocked

Cheers
