Since my first car was a 1.4i Vauxhall Astra Estate having a 2.6i Diplomat was a big hopup as you might of guessed, i have recorded the progress of my car on my site located here

I have the wheel caps in the boot, in fact i have 7 of them as i have 7 alloys lol, got 3 spare in the boot!  Just need to remove the crap left when i removed the badges




looks fine this site was barely any scratches what so ever i thought it would as this is cornwall and a few cars are hedge drven round here


shoe polished those seats! pitty the drivers seats hight adjustment level doesnt work!

in my opinion the engine is immaculate, althou im not sure what the copper tubing is for at the back?

Red wire - big clue is in the previous interior shot - direct power feed for an aftermarket stereo  Wink

Copper pipe - need a couple of different pics to clarify my thoughts but at the moment it looks like a really bodged earth lead  Huh

Copper pipe looks like a repaired fuel line, the 2.6 i broke had one repaired like that.

WTF - it's a 12V so the fuel lines come up on the Left hand side -what the hell would a fuel line be doing on the other side of the engine?

ahh i will trace that red ne hopefully into the stereo tomorrow

as for the fuel line! not a clue, or even what the brass pipe is for weither its the fuel line or now, i always knew my car was special  Wink

Very clean matey!

I wouldn't be surprised if the copper pipe was a fuel pipe - bloody expensive things!
I had to change the supply pipe on my old 2.6 a year or so ago, and VX dealer. sorry, retailer only sold them in pairs - delivery and return.

£65.

yeah i spent a good 8 hours cleaning the car and i still havent cleaned the engine and carpets oyeah n the wheel arches.

their was extra copper/brass pipe in the boot, im going down to pick it up from the garage tomorrow to i will return with pics and findings soon

Re the copper pipe, i wondered if maybe it had been Converted at some stage to run on Gas?.

it could well have been converted for gas. Have a look around the boot for evidence! Own a 2.6 myself. Lovely car. Going to de-cat it soon il let you know how i get on

also the copper pipe is indeed for the fuel line as you an see in these pictures below

When they started making the 2.6 engines they used 24V set up for fuel lines

In theory, your car needs to be registered before August 1st 1993 to not need cats for the MOT.
Having said that, my old Calibra was catless, and it was registered in the following December.
