Never mind the quality, look at the MPG!!!

« on: March 06, 2006, 04:56:23 PM »

Apologies to those on the ABS that've seen this already, and if it's inappropriate then feel free to delete it, but........................

An ex ABS member is giving away an ex-plod Senator.

Sadly it's a little battle scarred, but is an excellent source of parts or could be made roadworthy again by replacing the engine.

It's an 'M' plate, manual has 170k (ish) on the clock, full black leather interior in good condition, all round electric windows, MOT'd, farily rust free shell.

Now the bad bit, the engine's shot. Apparently one of the pistons made a bid for freedom out the side of the block. and the car's a little north of Perth in Scotland.

If noone takes it soon (i.e. the next couple of weeks), it'll be scrapped, (not broken, it'll go to be crushed!). I'd have it in a heartbeat but can't justify another old Vx on my driveway.

PM me for full details.

Thanks Rod, but I'm at the other end of the country, darn sarf, so the cost of getting it here would probably be prohibitive.. Also wondering if it would match with the rest of my interior, which is blue, even the dashboard.
What do you lads think, blue everything else and black seats Huh?

Off course..........

but 9/10 they were painted by the police to change the usage - ie white to red so it could be used as a plain car - they aren't that sharp at it either cos often they picked a colour that the Senator was never made in!!!

the 1/10 they were purchased in a different colour for applications like

- Advanced driving instruction use/school

- RCS usage

- Cheif Constable Staff car

Bit anal really

Murph, I think there's still road tax on it, so could be kept on a road in need be. (Just give him something to make it worth his while.)

He's really desperate to offload it.

Do you think they wouldn't match then Pedro?
Bloke at work wants to buy my Dippy, but d'you know, I really don't know what to do here.
He's just had a look over it. I kept trying to find things wrong with to put him off, but all he kept saying was 'ain't worried about that'.The old girls going wonderfully well at the mo.

If you could find out what an acceptable compensation would be, I'll be more than interested.

After speaking to the owner of the senny, I will be going down to strip all the bits and bobs I need, which amounts to the front brakes, prop shaft, interior and maybe front body (wings, bonnet etc).
I will also be enquiring about the stereo for tetley.
If antone else needs some bits let me know and I'll do my best to get them for you subject to there being enough space in my car (and trailer) to carry it all.
Please bear in mind that I will be paying for all bits taken, although not very much as the chap is happy to see them going to good homes.
Cheers

I don't want to take the juice but I was interested in the car for

Gearbox - shift lever - flywheel - clutch assembly - pedal box - clutch hose

Won't be unhappy if you reply DIY but I thought I'd ask anyway

You're welcome!!

I know you're after the interior, but if you're not using the centre console can I have that too? Don't worry if you are as I'd rather not split the interior up.

Cheers,

Rod.
