Can I join your club please?
Today, my 12 valve wouldn't start at all, just made a very, very half hearted attempt to fire on one, possibly 2 occasions.
I'll try the CTS next weekend. Just been quoted about 13 and a half quid from my local spares shop. I'm sure I remember reading somewhere in this forum that they were about 8 or 9 quid.
Don't really know where else to look for this problem, these 12 valves are about as complicated as an oxcart normally.

Just thought I'd put my two pennarth in.
Have you cleaned out the IACV lately?
Is the throttle position switch correctly adjusted?
The 12 valve I've just got had a cold starting issue, checked the dizzy cap and the carbon brush was missing.
It starts better now, but still needs a little fine tuning.

ICAV is clean as a whistle, TPS is set correctly...

Where are the timing marks supposed to be on the 12V by the way ??
mine has got a notch on the crank pulley and a line down the timing chain cover just down form the distributor
I did read somewhere that these marks indicate 10 degrees BTDC and running on 95 RON the timing should be 7 degrees

well.....  I have some reasonable news...  not completely wheyhey ! but cerntainly an improvement...

I was looking thru an old version of TIS and found a different method of setting the timing..

Well, the timing is set to what should be 7 degrees BTDC and the carly seems to be starting alot better..  about 7 out of 10 times its now starting up straight away, but when it does take some time to start, it's not taking as long as before !!

SO,  Big thanks to all for ya help  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Sorry to dig this old thread up again, but how did you set the timing without any marks on the crank pulley?
My 12 valve Senny is still a real bugger to start from cold.
