Steve

- Open car door
- Keys in the ignition & on
- Standing in the open drivers doorway
- With right hand Press button to run sunroof back into the roof
- slap glass roof with a flat left hand on top

Should retract then - lube up the runners while it open and check adjustment of the roof panel

mine does that but its just a little bit of loose trim just above the passengers head, its a little bit of black trim that drops out of place.
i give it a nudge and sunroof works.

Hmm that's useful to know... Welcome to the forum btw!

I take it you slap it because it's trying to go back but it's not moving downwards first?

Headlining - unclip the A pillar covers (bit of a pain, but no real issues), remove sunvisors, remove grab handles, remove alarm sensors if fitted, remove sunroof trim and gear cover, remove plastic trim at the top of the rear screen (carefully, as it's very brittle and can easily snap), IIRC, the B pillar trim can be kinda pulled away from the 'lining, and the lot should fall down, neatly folding across it's narrowest points - i.e sunroof cut out! Best get a mate to help.
Remove the gear mechanism. The sunroof is held in by quite a few screws, so simply remove and lower the 'roof, disconnecting the four drain pipes (Might need a warm air gun on them to loosen).

Refitting is reversal of removal, but make sure the drain pipes are well secured and in good condition, also other seals need to be checked out.
