Well the oven trick worked and she was out of the house long enough for me to get rid of the smell

This took me most of the day to build!!!!!

It's not installed completely yet but I have to admit it's bloody hard trying to do it on your own

Disc hole paturn/direction matches the fronts- doesn't mean it's right tho!!!!!

Getting closer to being able to have it down on some wheels again and once its on it's wheels I can get ready for engine/wiring fitment

There is always one bit that bites you in the backside and screws up your plans!!!!!

Spent the evening in the garage and made some good progress

looks finished at the back bar the ABS sensors need a clean before being bolted back on the diff and the brake hoses need hooking up but thats about it - even the handbrake is hooked up and works too

It's even got it's wheels back on (225 tyres - look a lot wider than 205's)

And the offending part - that I removed without a second glance cos it looked fine

metal centre section that bolts to the diff is supposed to be bonded to the rubber!!! it's peeling away everywhere - what's the chances that it's NLS?

Ian, that looks like one I took of the diesel estate, IIRC mine was still intact. How long can you wait. I get back on the 29th is that any good to you.

Yes, been keeping up with everything on the 'other' forum, so the offer still stands, but I will have to check whether it's the hard one or the squidgy one, my thought are that it will probably be the squidgy one as it was from the diesel estate.

Started the install at 3pm - lets just say it hasn't been without it's problems and I have a bigger list at 11pm than I did at 3pm

Going to bed now

Sorry if I've been a bit quiet  Wink

I'm not going to repeat all the posts on other forums just the last one

Saturday morning saw some frantic efforts

I'd almost fixed the clutch problem but it was still very sensitive to load - I reckoned the cable wasn't returning properly so assisted it by placing 3 x Honda 550 Valve springs between the bellhousing where the cable comes thro and the release arm

Fixed................

Checked wheel bolts and anything else that might have loosened and set of in convoy with a 3.6L Monza to the ABS Rolling road session

It did break down just once - with the dash all removed there are lots of oportunities for shorts and one poped a fuse and killed the enginebut it was quickly solved and it's the only time it miss behaved in 150 miles

Video of the fueling check (trial run)

Video of the power run

The power curves

The result

Talking about misbehaving - it was me that did that on the way home

I can post this pic because it took place on an private runway and the lights in the distance aren't other car tail lights but landing lights

It's starting to loosen up nicely s the miles build up 330 miles when pic was taken

The first time earlier I didn't have the camera handy but it was a vertical needle - pointing down  it might have gone further but the trip reset button was getting in the way of progress - that is gonna have to be removed I think

It's a missile no doubt about it  Cool

That is superb. You must be really proud of your work. Has anyone ever put a LC engine in a senny or monza? Without turbo charging or increasing the bore size what do you think HP wise you get from a 24v engine? When i was about 15 i helped the old man rebuild the entire back suspension on his senator in the same way you've done yours. It was bloody hard work even for two of us.

Well done

Been done in Germany

Without turbo charging or increasing the bore size what do you think HP wise you get from a 24v engine?

I reckon there is more to come - just working on some cams to push the power up 500 rpm and a bit of fine tuning on the maps

My target was 250 and still is - it had only done 200 miles on the rebuilt engine when I ran it on the rollers!!!!

It had half a tank of 5 mth old unleaded in it when I started the journey down to the rolling road and it wasn't exactly running at it's best on that - I gave it a brim full of BP ultimate and it ran better but it's still mixed fuel

When i was about 15 i helped the old man rebuild the entire back suspension on his senator in the same way you've done yours. It was bloody hard work even for two of us.

Next project for me is the Senny - engine for that was built nearly two years ago and installed last summer never started it yet!!!

Well done

Matt

Thank you

Only thing I really need is  bit of video footage before it goes off to be caged to give you a feeling of what she sound like when being given a bit of welly...........

It doesn't sound like a 12V anymore

It actually doesn't sound like a 24V either

I haven't heard it myself other than for in the car and it's nice there - I'll try and get a drive by video done before it goes off to be caged  Wink

Have you done any mods to injectors? Will there come a point where you have to upgrade? Had productive day on the 24v today, fixed the dual ram and heater all from your threads/posts. Should be ready an MOT soon, the first in 3 years!

Describe "caged"!

Fully welded or bolted?
Front to rear strut tops?
Diagonals?
Doorbars?
Dashbar?

Come on Ian, spill guts! Grin

Caged..............

A series of tubes running round the shell - linked in an attempt to stiffen the chassi and add some crash/rollover protection

Fully Welded - tick
Front to rear strut tops- tick
Diagonals - semi cos i need to keep the load area usable - so I guess thats a non tick*

* Note - it will be diagonally braced but just a little higher that optimum to allow me to still carry large items in the load area - it's the only car I can get me engine crane in now the estate has gone!!!

Doorbars -tick
Dashbar - Nope cos I want the dash to go back in and there is a healthy load of steel brcing in there already

Is that caged or cosmetic in your eyes  Huh
