You're all correct chaps - it is parallel & not series.

Perhaps Matt could edit his post & change it to 'parallel', if he wanted to, as it's a very informative post otherwise..........trouble is, it'll make these posts since seem silly to anyone who reads them afterwards Grin

Done - sorry for the confusion... when I thought about it and then did the diagram, it was obvious really...

PS - it won't look silly with this post on the end... Wink

or perhaps he could copy an paste it in2 the how2 section? or allow some1 else 2?

Any mods feel free to make a FAQ thread with this info

As I said - I don't know everything there is to know about this stuff, It seems BigJohn knows far more than I do....
I'm only saying what I know / have learned through years of working with PA speakers and DJ equipment.

PS - impedence has always confused the hell out of me, I kinda know the basics but when it gets to more technical stuff I'm stumped....

So Mr BC.... Following up from our conversation at Mimms:

- You won't need to replace your wiring from the standard ISO connector if you don't use the 2nd amp... (which I don't think you'll need to at all)
- You need a stereo which has the capabilities of cutting the bass out of your door/shelf speakers (this is called HPF (High Point Frequency))
- You will need independant sub level control/adjustable LPF (Low Point Frequency) if you want to get the best out of your system
- You can use the same sub box in any car you like if you use the speakon connectors I told you about - they're a quick and easy plug and play system!
- It's personal preference, but you said you'd prefer to cut a hole for a port in the bass box you have. Going on what I've seen on designed and tuned bass boxes, you'll only need one, on the top and to one side.

And the mystery CD was............

Hard to get the best out of the system with that CD.... Not a lot of bass in it. The bass notes you could here were low-mid frequencies, and so the only thing that was coming through the subs was the bass drum beat. Normal 13cm speakers will handle low-mid quite well. So I'm guessing that when you turn that CD up to an enjoyable level, it's only the bass drum beat that kills the standard speakers and makes them distort and I'm guessing it only distorts on the beat and not in between? (Is it going "fart.... fart.... fart..... fart.... etc? or is it doing one long fart? I'm guessing the first one........) so the theory is, if you can transfer all the low frequencies to your subs, then your 13cm speakers will handle the bassline very well without distorting!

PS - I won't tell anyone you listen to Shakira.
