Is there a certain method that has to be used to remove the Grundig 4870?
I've got the proper removal tools, i.e. the u - shaped thingys, sliding them in, pulling them apart
and.....nothing, the b*****d refuses to budge. Am I doing something wrong?
If all else fails, I'll take the glovebox out at the weekend and try access from the rear, but it'll only be a finger, coz the unit is completely caged. Any ideas chaps?

How far do you have to push them in blippi?
Seems like the right hand bottom fork won't push in very far at all, it just stops and won't go any further.
I just tried the face off of the unit you sent me and FM fired up ok, so I'm wondering now if the face of my unit is at fault.
I'll try it on the way to work tonight and see what happens.

Try shoving your fingers in the cassette slot while the keys are locked in and give a good yank. Works for me.

Tried that Mezzy. It's stuck solid. Mind you, my fingers are like saveloys.

Job done  Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley
Did it yesterday lunchtime, but due to wife coming home from work and a visit from the father-in-law, I didn't have time to post up before I went to work.
Took the glovebox out, but couldn't get behind the unit at all, the heater unit is in the way, but I did manage to see that the removal tools weren't engaging on the left hand side. Made sure they were engaged, gave it a pull, with my little finger in the cassette slot and it came out about half an inch. Had another go, came out a little bit more, but refused to come out ant further. In desperation, I put a very thin screwdriver in the drivers side and levered it, bingo, it came out.
Fitted the one I bought from blippi and it worked straight away. No code needed.
Proper music on the way to work last night.
Thanks for all the help lads.
