Yes - In keeping with the existing.

The beams will easily take the weight.

The large one is 360x90 and the two front ones are 240x90 - Finwood compressed wood.

I agree 100%  Wink
It's what is holding the beams up I had issue with ,Is the far wall is 4x2 stud ?

Excellent, this is what I wanted to hear - I'm not a build, but have helped on many projects with/for friends.

Yes its 4x2 stud - What would you do - Remember I don't want to disamantle too much.

The existing shed is 3x2 !

It's not major at 4x2
I'd probably beef it up by putting 4x2 sideways on to existing vertical studs to create an "L shape" (6x4),screwed every 12"
possibly with a header the same depending on where the perlins are in relation to the studs.
hard to explain with text, Pm me your email if you want me to send a drawing  Wink

I would put some diagonals in from floor to ceiling. Dave is right about the uprights needing to be beefed up and made less likely to bend but the whole thing could also just fold quickly if a sideways load (wind or a shunt) starts the heavy roof pulling it all over.

The closeboard / featheredge cladding will give the frame rigidity against diagonal flex /creep if decent nails are used  Smiley

I'm going to put more diagonals in and board the inside with ply.

There were more diagonals but I had to cut them out when I fitted the beam supports.

The featherboard is being put on with plasterboard nails.

If your boarding the inside with ply then don't waste time / wood with more diagonals. (other than left side of the door frame) remember first fix electrics before you board inside, B&Q do insulation for £3 a roll  Undecided just a thought.

plaster board nails "with 1" penitration and ribbed for extra pleasure "

If your fitting an up n over double door beef up the sides of the door frame further as they are heavy & exert huge preasure on certain points

Sorry to be advising you more work and expense but i doubt you'd want a few ton of tile and timber on ya cars in a few years time, we do seem to be getting some freak weather conditions as of late.

I built a workshop down my garden, put a structural steel frame in then clad with insulated panels like modern factories//retail parks (5m x 2.5m x 2.5m £500),worked out cheaper than wood, sadly I can't get me carlton in it (no vehicle access)  Cry
