Hi guys, glad to have discovered this fourm.

I need some expert advice. I have a Vauxhall Viceroy (1982 small facelift) and wondered if seats and door trims from a 1983 Senator would fit? I know they fit the Royale, but unsure if the Viceroy was exactly the same.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

You own one of the rarest VX's of them all, I have never actually seen a phase 2 Viceroy in the metal. Some pictures of your fine car would be nice.
I would think the seats will fit ok, I don't think the floorpan was changed during the facelift, but the doorcards may differ in the way they are fixed to the door.
One of the real experts will no doubt be along soon with a definative answer.

Here's some pics. The car is mint but I don't like the interior much, and saw this on ebay and wondered if it would all fit ok - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/vauxhall-opel-senator-full-crushed-velour-seats-panels-carpets-etc-/260930876449?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cc0b13421

Been told the seat runner bolts may be different, but not definite. The rear door shapes are also different on a Senator, but only the top half.

The only differences I can tell with the facelift model were the Carlton Mk2 interiors, boxed-in wing mirrors, longer arm rests in the front doors and a shelf above the glove box instead of wooden panel.

Have exchanged the manual windows with electric ones from a Royale and just want to freshen it up inside really. Here's some pics;

That's retro porn. Plleeeeaaaaassssseeeee, keep the interior as it is. Its gorgeous. It would be different if the interior was tatty and needed a refurb.

If you decide to pull the interior out I'll buy it from you, I'm getting married in June you see and I think I could make a very dapper suit from that...

All joking aside, that's a very nice car.  Cool

I had a phase 2 1982 MK 1 Carlton with the same interior albeit a different colour, I've never seen another.
Are those wheels off a Opel Record Berlina?

I know that style of wheel was an option on the mk1 Carlton. Without having a look at a Viceroy brochure, I can't say for certain, but they may have been standard. The Opel Rekord and the Carlton mk1 were almost the same car. To me, the Viceroy is a posh Carlton.

For a stunning standard car like that it would a shame to change the interior IMHO.

The allow wheels were an option on the car when new - only ever seen my one with them on.

Have to say I am more into the later models, and as many people here know I am into customising a bit but in all honesty I have to say I wouldn't have the heart to change any of that - it is far too nice to muck around with. If the interior was tatty I wouldn't hesitate but that is mint and deserves to be enjoyed.

Your car, your rules but I would seriously think about 'not' swapping the interior, just my opinion... Wink

p.s. Have just looked at the Senator parts you are talking about - love the 'Wine' colour - contrary to what I said earlier that would look pretty pucka - keeps the interior colour scheme the same - just upgrades it, hmmm, think I have just changed my mind - that WOULD look good... Cool

If the seats didn't fit exactly, is it possible to drill new holes for them?

Not sure that you could, if I remember rightly my Carlton seats were screwed into the floor so you would have to drill new holes and sink/weld the nuts in place. All I do know is that the Carlton/Senator seats were interchangeable but that was on a 1990 plus car, not sure about the older ones - same with the door panels although having said that the pictures of your door panels and the ones on Ebay for the Senator do look very similar so you might be lucky.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks Johnraka. I'm doing some measurements to see if they'll initially fit. One question - there are 3 bolts that hold my seats in place - where there should be a fourth on the inner front, there is a plate covering where the hole is. How would the seat be fixed to the floor? Do I undo the three bolts, then swivel each seat out or something?

Only 3 bolts?
Hmmm, my Carlton had 4, just unscrewed them and out came the seat, presumably the same rule would work for you.
Just curious as to why only 3 bolts - very odd, nothing to worry about, just odd that's all... Wink

Been told the fourth bolt is unscrewed from underneath the car, hence the plate on the inside.
